Some of you may have seen a thread I started some weeks ago regarding a very disappointing example of a Sheffield made lambsfoot pocketknife.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1156525-Sheffield-knife-what-did-I-get

I asked the question "What did I get?" I have some answers:

1. The opportunity to inspect some of the ugliest stag on one of the ugliest knives ever made.
2. A trip to the post office to return said knife (received full refund, incl. postage:thumbup:)
3. A new friend Bernd (NalOn) who sent me this lovely gift:

Thank you so much for your generosity. It restores my faith in humanity, and the cutler's art.

Well done NalOn  Congratulation r8shell, that looks lovely. The rosewood models are the humblest, but I think they can also be the most beautiful :)

Indeed. I've always favored wood covers. I just thought I'd try out stag for a change, but looking at this one, I can't imagine it looking better in any other material. It just suits the form and function, you know?

Congrats on the new knife, Bernrd is a good guy, I've had the pleasure of conversing with him, outstanding gesture:thumbup::thumbup:

Excellent. I need to get another rosewood one myself sometime. I was lucky enough to get a particularly nice one, but passed it on to another member a while back. Unfortunately, the overall quality of the knives seems to be getting worse rather than better.

What a wonderful gesture! Congratulations r8shell. Thankfully I finished my lunch before looking at your "what did I get" thread -- that would have ruined my appetite for sure. Ugh.

Good luck resolving this issue with the vendor. Please do let us know how that works out.

You are very welcome Rachel! I am so happy you like this one!

And thanks to all the other replies, I really feel humbled. I did not do that much, just sending a fellow "knife knut" a simple example of what those European knives should be like ;)

I have an e-mail conversation going with one of their sales guys, and he is very helpful. I think I'll point him to this thread when I order my replacement, so that he, too, can appreciate the awesome results of this simple gesture!

Cheers and best of luck to all of you,
Nal0n

Outstanding knife and very nice gesture from a fellow forum member. Nice folks in here. :)

Well done - Bernd! :)

I also got a Lambsfoot as a gift from Jack (Black) some time ago, it deserves getting carried. The blades sharpens up nicely and the knife is made pretty well.

I love such threads - it makes this place so special and let me go here every evening after a stressy day at work.

Thanks Papa Andi!

This is how I feel the world should be. Everyone does what he/she can and shares the fruit of their work if possible.

It should not matter if you are male or female, old or young, white/black/european/african/american/etc. or whatever, skilled or unskilled, intelligent or "simple", WHATEVER!

Just share the "love" ... be it for peace or food or, like around here, knives or flashlights or other gadgets or whatever ... just be a good person and try to make your corner of the world a better place. At least that is what I try :D

Everywhere you go there will be criminals, "a**holes" but always also great human beings ... and I am very happy to have found a place where the "great human beings" seem to be a majority!

Thank you all that you allow me to be a part of this great place!

Best wishes,
Bernd

p.s.: Sorry if I am lacking in eloquency but unfortunately English is not my native language ... but I keep trying as best as I can ;)
