A few weeks ago Paul (pmew) posted this photo and I asked if that was a Harris Tweed wallet at the bottom of the image. I mentioned that I had just returned from Scotland and wished I had picked one up while there. He replied that it was actually an iPhone case.

Later he PM'd me and asked for my address to "send me a wee something". A couple of weeks later this showed up in my mailbox.

For those who aren't familiar with Harris Tweed, it is a hand-made product that is spun, dyed, woven, and finished at islander's homes in the Outer Hebrides. I fell in love with the stuff while I was in Scotland and brought back a hat made from the same but kicked myself for not buying a few other items, particularly a wallet.

Paul, I can't thank you enough for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Looking back at your history on this forum it seems this was not a one-time act. Your thoughtfulness is well documented and I'm sure I speak for many when I say we're lucky to have such a fine member as yourself.

Thanks again, and watch your mailbox in the weeks ahead. ;)

Dad bought me a Harris Tweed jacket when I was attending university. Loved that thing. Wore it for years until it didn't fit. Then I gave it away. I don't wear such jackets these days, or I'd have gotten another. I can't remember a time Dad didn't have a Harris Tweed jacket.

Glad you like it Neal, I couldn't imagine you wearing the tweed cap in the Texas heat y'see, so I thought you should have another option ;)

Good on you Paul, I saw that when I was in Scotland, really good stuff, I too regretted not getting something made with it - well done Paul, and good on you Neal!

Great stuff Paul, that's a really nice wallet there Neal

Just adding some knife content - the Queen Canoe gifted me by Paul :)

Very nice wallet, very nice gift! Years ago I owned two Harris Tweed jackets - wore them for many years until my son grew into them and I grew out! He still wears the two jackets - you cannot wear Harris Tweed out. I bought this imitation from J C Penney about ten years ago - you can tell it isn't the same quality as real Harris - but it worked to pose a knife on for a picture. OH

A very nice and thoughtful gift. Typical of the this bunch we have sharing this forum. Living in Florida, tweed only seems appropriate a few days a year. I don't own a Harris, but I love my tweed jacket. It goes well with my boots and my "Old Timer".

Yeah, I'll wear the tweed hat during that one week of winter we have down here. ;)

Adding a bit of knife content.

I had a couple of Harris tweed jackets back in the day when I wore sports coats instead of sweats and Carhartts. When I lost a lot of weight, I had them tailored to fit me again. I loved those things and I sometimes wonder why men ever got out of the habit of wearing nice clothes (I type this as I sit here in shorts, tee shirt and sandals).

Lovely wallet and gesture, Paul!! Great taste, Neal! I had a tweed jacket but sadly it is gone now. Nothing like a fine tweed jacket and hat, and now I see wallet. Ah......Scotland! What a fine place it be.

I also received a very special tweedy gift from Paul, great guy

Ah the memories... Northern constabulary has been gone for over a year now. I do miss being a Teuchter cop. Now we're just part of N Division instead. Sigh.
