Buy it! It probably won't be there tomorrow! (Strider) What better folder to rock in your Corvettes! :D Only you know which suits you.

Im not gonna tell ya your off bro, but I will tell ya as soon as you start gettin the bug (knife bug) you won't be happy with one or two knives.....I suggest you get out and handle some knives and make your decision, based on your hand size, personal preference and so on....Knives are a very personal thing and you develop a relationship with your blades. I you have the cash to put on some customs I'd talk with their makers and pick their brains. As far as SD goes get some training that is practical, you really need a relationship with your blade if you plan on defending your life with it....As far as sharpening goes, this is a VERY REWARDING SKILL....that you will take pride in!

What knife do you think will take more abuse not that I will be hitting it with a hammer. The Chris Reeve Umnumzaan or the Duane Dwyer?

The Strider of course - "hard use knives" not for abuse but if you break it they fix it within reason of course. You've chosen to ignore my previous post man

They're both strong , well built knives. Strider might have a slightly better warranty to cover abuse, but CRK has top notch customer service too.

When you start to buy custom knives , you're paying for the fact that they are hand built and in low numbers. You probably will not notice any difference in performance when compared to a high quality production knife. But there's definitely a feeling of satisfaction whenever you use any high end knife, custom or production.

I have a few high end production knives (CRK Umnumzaan and a Strider SnG) and I've never felt that a custom version of any similar knife can perform better or worse. If you like the looks of a Strider try and SnG or SMF.

BTW you have good taste in cars, unfortunately I live in the northeast so my Vettes are in for the winter:(

CZIV email sent thank you:) NY here Z06 inside also bummed. I was reading about the Dwyer it said Conceal Carry feature what is that? I carried my other knife clipped to my front right pocket inside so I did not lose it. Also is CPMS 110V not found in a lot of knives I see a lot of S30 does one have more of a benefit over the other. I also found a titanium blade how does that compare? Thank you everyone you have been great this is a very friendly forum I appreciate it.

Before answering anymore questions, check their shipping policies. Good luck on getting a clipped folder sent to NY my friend. Maybe it depends on the place you buy it and what part of NY you live in?? The company I work for won't ship a knife, pepper spray or a stun gun to a NY resident. :(

It is shipping to me in NJ where I'am currently visiting family which is the reason for the fast shipping;)

NYS itself is not unfriendly to knives. Manhattan county is the only place where a clip can get you in trouble. Most of the state does not even have a blade length law. The only three counties that have any are Manhattan, Munroe, and Erie. And in all three the legal length is 4". There are many companies that refuse to ship blades to NYS at the moment but that's due to pressure from DA Vance. Many continue to ship and it's totally legal. Pepper spray and stun guns are a totally different issue. I'm not really up on the laws regarding those specific items but as far as I know most things (not counting CC firearm) specifically designed for SD are not ok in NYS.
Don't mean to derail the thread but I wanted to clear up some common misconceptions that popped up since this summer.

I have heard no opinions on the John W. Smith knife in the link I put up. Are those knives not in the same class? Also I have been reading more since this is not a small purchase. Some say that Strider knives are poor quality and over priced and that Chris Reeves are much better. Does that not pertain to customs since they are made by one person? Also when it comes to a blade maker is their a person that everyone agrees is the best. I know when it comes to swords their are some that are considered masters is their the same with knives?

First let me say that I'm not a Strider or CRK fan johnnyr135. That said:

The Ti blades aren't what you're looking for and the CPM 110 steel is considered a "super steel" but I'll defer to experts on that one.

You're looking at two fine and VERY different knives. If I had a deep enough wallet, I'd be all over the custom Strider, the Umni will always be around and they're boring nd kinda gofy looking to me although a CR knife is usually very good from what I hear. I had a new Sebenza and sold it already.

Maybe an ordinary CC SMF would be prudent to check it out? I still don't think you'd lose any money on the custom if you didn't like it and had to re-sell it though. Good luck! ;)

Also when it comes to a blade maker is their a person that everyone agrees is the best. I know when it comes to swords their are some that are considered masters is their the same with knives?

Rick Hinderer! He has a forum here.

It has been brought up before but CRK believes flicking a knife open with one hand is considered abuse and might not be covered under warranty.:barf: Strider will warranty their knives if you snap it open one handed and cut open a M1 tank. Food for thought.

I think you are getting a bit hung up on the "best of the best" idea. There are hundreds and hundreds of knives that could easily satisfy your requirements. All stellar quality. I don't really have any experience with high end knives beyond handling them. I'm still working my way up the food chain. As far as I understand the quality of a custom will vary from maker to maker. I think you should look around for a bit, see what grabs you, and then research those.
