Hi. Haven't posted on this part of the forum before, but I have seen a couple of posts by Sal before. Anyways, would just like to say a big thank you to Sal and the customer service people at Spyderco for posting me out a couple of phosphor bronze washers for my PM2.

I picked one up a short time ago and noticed that there was only one washer around the blade pivot screw. I sent customer service a short note and within, I'd say, 24/48 hours they had not only emailed me back, but had sent me a couple in the post. Brilliant. They arrived today and are now in place in the knife. Makes the opening much smoother IMHO.

So, like I said, I just like to take the opportunity to say "Thank you" to the personnel at Spyderco. Tremendous customer service.  (Nice knife too :D)

Joe.

I'm surprised they sent them with their no disassembly policy. It isn't the easiest knife to take the blade out of with the bushing and pressed in lanyard tube. Glad they sent them out though as it makes it a lot quicker and cheaper not having to send the knife in.

I'm surprised as well...it's not like the Spydies are the easiest to self diagnose and repair/replace. I see one model has accessory scales offered for sale, but it does appear my Spyderco's are not built to be repaired or modified by the user.

Well. to be fair, I was informed by CS that I would void the warranty by doing so.... but that's ok. All in all I found it pretty easy to dismantle TBH. Took my time and was extra careful. Personally, I probably wouldn't have bothered doing anything if there had been 2 washers in place, but there you go. C'est la vie. I' more than happy with the results.

I see he is "across the pond". They are much more likely to send parts over seas where shipping the knife would be cost prohibitive and there could be issues with customs.

I like Spyderco knives but their warranty department isn't the best in my experience. It usually isn't a big deal unless there is a problem with a Sprint run. They don't have extras and if a problem can't be fixed all you get is a knife credit to buy something else. Can be really frustrating after waiting for a year for a Sprint run. It has happened more than once to me but getting a great knife has been much more common. Just saying, it can happen.
