thank you Spyderco for creating my perfect working pair of knives. the full serrated Endura and the plain edge Native.

i only discovered Spyderco knives this spring, after years as a puukko snob. of course i believed the hype and tried a BM Eclipse first (won't even go there). then heard about Spydies.

my first was the Endura with full serrations. great, great knife. goes through anything (that i need it to), doesn't show any sign of dulling, and is dishwasher safe (did it once just to see).

then after an incident with the local constabulary, no hassle just a "what have you got there", i decided to get a folder with a plain edge to carry when i didn't want to carry the Helle Nying that the officer took such and interest in. so what did i do, i bought the "best", MT SOCOM. great knife, fit and finish excellent, very ergo. in 90% of daily life, useless (to me).

lo and behold, trade the MT for a fixed utility blade and still looking for a folder. so i figure, back to the Spyderco counter at the army/navy store. -insert epiphany here- i held the Native. to me it was immediately like a folding puukko: small, wickedly sharp blade, squat had filling grip. yes, this is the one, and for about $40 it was about 1/4 the price of the MT and has 200 times the utility.

these days i feel confident that life really can't throw me much (in the way of knife applicable dilemas) that either the Native or the Endura can't handle.

Spyderco, you can pay more, but why?

Rob, look at the BladeFoprums Native... Blue G-10 scales and a CPM-440V blade... NICE!

copfish,

i know, i know. i check it out about once a day. then i look at the knife, look in the pocket, look at the knife, look in the pocket. just can't justify right now.
