I just wanted to say thanks to the blade forums. I am new member, although I admit to lurking and getting a lot of good info on knife making over past few years. I hope I can return the favor to some of the newbies out there. Hopefully I won't take a beating in here for sitting back and reading for so long and not contributing. We just launched our new website today - as part of it I put a section on How the Knives are Made. I hope this helps some of the new guys out there. As for you seasoned folks, I am sure I will get a bunch of criticism for something! But I would really love feedback of the site from other makers and from enthusiasts or newbies. Any feedback is good feedback and helps the business grow.

The site is www.mgmknives.com Thanks in advance for the feedback. You can also follow us on Facebook at Facebook.com/mgmknives And if I have violated some policy - please let me know!!

Thanks so much again,

Always awesome for a new company to spring up. ;)

Might want to ask about becoming a Paid Dealer for BF.com, then you can start posting a ton of stuff about your site and products.

Welcome friend!

Interesting. So you'd buy a dealer membership as well as a KnifeMaker one? Sorry for a stupid question but want to make sure I am doing stuff right!

Thanks Krav - I greatly appreciate it. I think I may have posted this in the wrong spot? Probably should have put it in the Knifemakers section? Thanks for the feedback!

Not a stupid question at all! You're already good to go for the "KnifeMaker For Sale" area with this type of membership actually.

Also here's a link you might find helpful:

You make the knives correct? Assuming so, you don't need a dealers membership to sell your products here. Nice knives and great site, welcome to blademforums sir! :)

Yes sir, I am a knife maker. Ok - knowing that I don't need the dealer membership certainly saves me some $$$. Thanks so much for the feedback on the site. Great to hear from other makers!!!

The knives and website look fantastic! Stuff like this always gives the small guys like me some inspiration to become a better bladesmith. It really shows the art aspect of knives as well as their function! Good work!

Adorable dog btw!

Sadly I'll never be a maker, but I do like to think I do my part to keep the knife economy moving. ;)

In that case - thanks for keeping us employed! Without our customers we would not exist - we appreciate them more than they know!

Teddy and I both say thanks :-) If there is anything we can do to help, just let us know. All the knife makers I know tend to help each other out!

If you make any fixed blades (I'm not at home so can't really look at image-heavy sites at the moment) it would be really cool if you could have the option of ordering a left-side sheath with the knives. I wish more makers added that as an option for left-handed people so there was no need to get the knife, send it in to get a custom left-handed sheath, then get it back again.

Great feedback. We were just talking about that today. Half the time when we supply a sheath, the buyer says they love the knife, but want a more/less ornate sheath, or a left side, or a different color. So, we stopped having our leather worker making the sheath in advance. When a knife is purchased, we include a basic sheath (tell us what side!!!) or a padded, zippered case (because some buyers don't want the sheath - they want the case!). Then, if they want something more ornate, like stingray inlays...etc, then we just charge what the direct cost is to us. We thought it was fair and existing clients did too. Someone today said thank goodness I didn't put one of those stingray sheaths with the knife he wanted. He wanted a nice mammoth tooth fixed blade, but an ordinary sheath. Perfect. We're happy and he is too! I'd love your feedback once you are somewhere where you can see our images. I will include my new favorite knife we recently completed on this thread. See if I can figure it out!!!

That looks extremely cool! Fancy yet functional. I like your logo as well.

Thanks! I hate knives that aren't functional. Same with guns. Don't get a heavily engraved gun sit in the safe. Take it out, put it on a horse scabbard and go hunt with the thing. Put some scratches on it. Most importantly, make some memories with it! The logo originates from the Kudu. I dreamed of hunting it from age 8 and it took a while but I got to hunt them. Be back in Africa next month and hopefully have some luck again with one. Both boys are coming along, so my priority is making sure they have a good time. They are both making their knives to take with them. And they have to each make a knife for the skinners there as gifts. Anyway, probably TMI.

Not TMI at all! Congrats on fulfilling that dream and I hope your boys enjoy their time there as well.

I also value functional knives. While I do consider myself as having a collection of knives, I only buy knives I actually want to use.

I agree. I am the same way not only with knives, but with guns. So, as an avid collector, I'd appreciate your feedback on the site when you have some time. Maybe send me a private message with your thoughts. If you do, I'll send you a free hat or tee shirt for your time. I REALLY value feedback. I want to know what people like and don't like. I see many knife makers just making what THEY like. That's cool, but I employ some awesome guys and want to make what customers like!!!

Thanks again!

Sounds good man! I'll try to send you a message this weekend.
