....July 4th was very exceptional!:)

The 19"; 2.75lb Garud Ang Khola with karda & chakma.

Those are all very nice; the Garud Ang Khola is exceptional.
Congrats on a great 4th and thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Greg

Many thanks for report and great pix. I love that backdrop.

The Garud will look even better when you get all that damned rouge off it.

Thanks guys - still admiring the craftsmanship that goes into these tools! Uncle Bill - I had to do a double take about that 'rouge'! Believe me, I did clean up the blades of all the kukris & finally figured out what that 'rouge' is! It's a reflection from a red curtain in the back window which was picked up in the 2 grooves on the blade!:D Skeletor - The handle of the Garud is a little bit to large in circumference for my small hand (probably one of the smallest in Pendentive's poll of awhile ago) & the metal pin could use a wee bit of grinding down. But since I wanted this one as a display piece, I'm overjoyed with it!

How comfortable is the handle on that Garund?

I was wondering more about that dragon head, doesn't look very comfortable.

Skeletor, the Garud handles are not at all comfortable!!!!:( And they are too big for the average man to grip securely in order to do any work with them.
I have one and love it, but it's a display piece only for all practical purposes.
The only animal motif handle that was any good IMO and that I know of was the old style Hanuman khukuris.
When the kamis decided to make it unbreakable they ruined it as well since you have to be a giant of a man or have giant sized hands in order to work it properly.:(
The Hanuman handle on my WW II blade, ( a mixup since Bill ordered Hanuman blades with WW II handles and instead got Hanuman handles on WW II blades, but the plus is that only four were ever made!!!!:))
is very comfortable and secure, but since it is such a rare knife I have never worked mine since the initial test.:D

MadMark - No choppin' yet! I've had a huge Ash & a Maple trees cut down in the back yard awhile ago & would have had all kinds & sizes of branches to work on. Just have a few shrubs I can thin out now! Seems like in my town, if you want to thin some limbs, you need to get a permit from the town!:D Skeletor - Yvsa has stated my sentiments exactly about the dragon headed Ang Khola - one added point: at 2.75lbs, your 'swinging arm' is going to take a beating or get as big as Popeye's arm!:D Mine will find a very nice home displayed on the wall to admire!

That's a bummer, man. I'm lucky, we had a drought in this neck of the woods last year and this has left me with at least a dozen dead and sickly trees to chop down. Some are big enough to require the old 7 lb. felling axe to bring down. Even so that leaves lots of scope for the khuks in clearing a space to work and limbing the fallen trees. Hope you get a chance to use yours soon.
Cheers, Mark
