I just wanted to say thank you to all of you WSS members for your great pics and posts all summer. I've been living vicariously through all of you since I had emergency spinal surgery on April 25. It truly sucks to be laid up an entire summer, but WSS made it a little more bearable.

I went in for an MRI that Monday due to an unexplainable (no stupid lifting etc) backache up between my shoulder blades. Pretty much woke up the next day in recovery. My wife told me (I generally lose 2 to 3 days worth of memory every time I've gone under the knife) that they found an abcess INSIDE my spine and had to perform a laminectomy on three vertebrae to get the infection out.

Anyway, I'm back to work (no lifting) managing Sporting Goods (WITH guns:D) at our local Wally World after a 4 month hiatus.

Thank you all for going outdoors for me.

Wow, good thing they got that cleaned out but sorry for the whole summer being a recovery session. Hope you can start getting outside again as things cool off in the next weeks. Yeah, the posts on here are a good way to keep the cobwebs from gathering to much when we aren't getting time outside like we need. The ones by Pitdog, Mistwalker and so many more always have cool pictures and good text you can learn a lot from them.

Wow, glad they got to it in time. I had a discectomy back in 98 after an accident at work so I can sympathize with you. Glad your back at work now.

It's been a long road, but I've never been one to give up. I will be out there again lighting fires and batoning wwood with my favorite blades.

Sorry to hear about the nightmare time you've been having bud.:(
I hope things take a turn for the better now and you manage to get some time outdoors !

WOw chief. Inside the spine surgery. Thats no joke. Glad you can play with guns again.

Me too. Gimme a few more months pt and working and, hopefully, I'll be back to hiking and chopping. What really sucks is I missed out on morel season!

Brother, I was in a bad car accident end of July. Facet fractures of the spine, chest trauma and a broken leg. Does not sound as bad as what you have been going through. Don't force it. I am climbing the walls with cabin fever, but I am healing up faster than I ever could have imagined. All I've wanted to do since I got out of ICU is sit next to a camp fire, listening to the woods, enjoying a hot cup of coffee or tea. It will happen man. Don't force it, I am ready to get backed to work but need to get cleared by my regular doc. Scope out the camping gear, fall will be here soon!

I hear ya guys. Sorry, all I can do is offer up tonight's urban firepit:

I find that living through others' adventures helps us get to the next one...
