Profit from Bonecutter Knives went to Ram's food and rent.
I thank you all for your continue supports.

Thanks for working on getting those made up Yangdu! VERY sweet blade and excellent workmanship(even tapered tang!)

I hope we can look forward to more BC's too in the future. I'll get some more HIKV funding eventually. :D

Great that you are doing this Yangdu!

Technical question, is the Bonecutter basically a full tang version of the Ganga Ram? What's the difference?

Oh Sweet I contributed to something!

And I get an 18 inch knife out of the deal?

Right on!

I'd be glad to help support a run of the R series knives!

I need another R8 an R10 an R4 and and and!

Not that I need any rationalisation to buy another Khukuri, but the fact that the purchase of a Bonecutter will directly benefit someone in need has put higher up onto my 'must get' list. ;)

For the info of this newer HIKV sufferer , what is a bit of the background to Ram's situation?

I'm a fairly new initiate to the world of HI too, but I believe Ram is Sgt Khadka's son and is attending medical school with the help of Yangdu and the HI extended-family.

That is absolutely correct.

From the thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462837&highlight=ram

"The old hands know all of this, but I thought the new guys would be interested. When Bill and Yangdu Martino started HI, the main reason was to help the poor kamis of Nepal. They are the lowest caste and have very few opportunities to better themselves. These days, the kamis of HI are better off than most in Nepal and even have access to some medical care when needed. Along with better living conditions Bill and Yangdu have helped the kamis children to get some education. One of their success stories is Rameshwor Sunar, the son of Sgt. Khadka. The sergeant is in the Nepali army and is a part time kami at BirGorka. Ram is the first of his family or village to finish school. For the past 4 years, he has been attending medical school in Riga, Latvia, with the intention to return to Nepal and take care of the poor people of the villages. The Martinos have covered most of Ram’s expenses which are considerable. When Bill was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I promised him that the members of the forum would do our best to continue his work, and keep Ram in school. We have done this through a series of fundraisers. We used to hold these fundraisers on the forum, but have had to stop, due to a conflict with forum rules. We now hold the fundraisers by email and will have one very soon. So if you want to help continue Bill and Yangdu’s work, and also have the possibility to acquire some very nice swords and khukuris, send me an email and I’ll put you on the email list. If you have any questions, please email me. We can’t have any discussions on the forum.
Thanks,
Steve Ferguson"

Bless Yangdu and Steve for their time and generosity (& the many others who contribute to this worthy endeavour).

From my non-empirical understanding, the Bonecutter design features the GRS-like weight forward shape as well as a more acute bevel, enabling greater penetration when chopping. The performance these combined factors are reputed to give the BC is the reason for much of the buzz about them among khuk fans.
