You know, tonight we fired a mission. I used a knife given to me by one friend, used a flashlight powered by rechargeable batteries given to me by another friend, and wore electric muffs sent to me by yet another friend.

Even when I can't talk to you, my friends are always with me. Thank you.

Hopefully you'll have a back up bottle of hot sauce to squirt in their eyes soon.

God Bless you for all you do for all of us here. We know.

Well, without my own computer, and low on reading material- and having watched all the movies- we run out of things to do...

OK John, which is it: "really crazy or incredibly stupid?" :D

(One of your cohorts seemed to take a lot of pleasure in your pain.)

As always, Godspeed. Stay safe and warm.

Eric

Lord sir, don't I remember a video of you getting tazered???

Do they give you guys beer or anything??

BTW, whats the knife?

The knife is the Soldier's Knife Shane Justice made for me. I was using it tonight- besides the regular duties of cutting through the wax on old 60mm rounds, and cutting through the packing materials on the 120mm rounds- to PRY the 120 rounds out of their crate.

There is no alcohol allowed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The majority of the income in the country comes from drugs, especially heavy stuff like opium and heroin, but we can't have a beer.

I wish I got $50 every time I get hit with OC. :)

John? I'm not going to preach to you here because I understand just what sort of foolishness goes on during deployment (and gets videotaped), but when I advise against putting it on the Internet, I speak from experience. The wrong person sees the wrong thing, and there's a criminal investigation, and...well...nevermind. I was the junior man in the HMMWV and that's the truth, but had I still been on active duty when things kicked off, I probably would've been burnt.

I'll make sure that there's something to read in the care package that I still owe you. (You're not charging interest, are you?) ;) Have you read House of Leaves yet?

Keep on fighting the good fight. I mean it when I say that I'd be there if I could.

I'l take CS gas over OC spray anyday, but OC tastes pretty good on tacos if you're brave.

wow john, you're pretty intense.

i wonder what you're like in person.

-D

Holy Crap. That took some cahones, my friend. Way to go, and I'll bet you feel good when you spend that $50! :D

Dave,

Point taken.

I haven't read House of Leaves, though I love Haunted (musical companion piece?).

Andrew, my addy is

I can always use wet wipes, and good sci fi (Heinlein, Card, Ringo, Weber, Williamson, etc).

Dave H, shucks. I'm actually pretty laid back. I have a long list of things I'm afraid of: heights, tight spaces, water, and large amorous women, to name a few. :) I like yoga and puppies. :D

Chris, I'll feel like I earned it.

You'll love the movie "The Descent" It pretty much has all of those, except the women aren't fat(some of them are tall though). I was very uncomfortable(some might say scared) until they actually got attacked by the monsters. Crawling through tubes in rock a mile underground is not my idea of fun.

John, the hot sauce is coming, just be patient for a little while longer and don't resort to any more drastic measures to get your capsicum fix, mmmkay?

John, I noticed that you mentioned you read Sci Fi. I just read a cool book by David Drake called Redliners. Actually a military SciFi. Pretty darned good book, if I do say so myself.

Chris

Got a replacement box of unscented wipes here (to replace the one my wife opened ;)). It'll go out Monday. :)
