This knife is perfect for me. And it takes an edge like only my old Mcusta did. VERY nice.
Perfect shape for just about anything I have done or can think of.

:)

I got the large one, the RSK Mk1

If you like the Mk1 you should see the fixed blade Mk3 in person. Picture the Mk1 with with a fixed full tang, slightly larger/thicker, blade, and a really nice solid G-10 handle.

All measurements are Mk1/Mk3:

Blade Length: 3.44"/4.5"
Full Length: 8.06"/9.1"
Blade thickness: 0.115"/0.140"
Weight: 3.82 oz/5.7 oz
Price: $115/$165

I really liked my Mk1's (both the mini I EDC and the fullsize), so when I'd heard Doug Ritter was coming out with a fixed blade knife I put off purchasing any fixed blades until Doug's Mk3 came out. I'm glad I waited. A lot of folks say it is too expensive, but I really REALLY like it. One sweet knife!

Had all three, kept the full size Ritter. Great knife, wish I had gotten one in M2. The mini was too small for me right now. No complaints about the 3, except for the sheath. I just have a preference for carbon and tool steels in such a knife. Flood Doug with pm's for M2 steel, or D2 steel on the Ritter fixed blade.

Or, he could do just that on a smaller fb based on the mini. That I would buy in a heartbeat, and have told him so!

If I wasn't so anal about steel in camp knives, I would have kept the 3.

I might have gone for the mini except I have a minigrip 556 and the handle is a ....b i t..... too small. The full size one fits perfectly.

That's my problem with the minis, too. If you like the size of the mini, though, you ought to try out an H&K 14210. The handle is shaped differently, so it gives you another 1/4" to 1/2" of gripping space.

The blade shape is a little different than the Ritters. I'm not as fond of the 14210 blade as I am the ones on the Ritters, but I'll take the H&K blade shape as a close second and the overall package on the 14210 is unbeatable for my uses. I carried mine for a week and then bought a backup... just in case.

Congrats!, I just recieved my Ritter MK1 this afternoon as too, but I just gave it a quick once over because I don't want to get to attached too it. I was going over municipality laws this past weekend, and most of the towns I travel through have 2.5" blade length max on the books.:barf: I'm in constrution/electrician so I think because of my trade I'm justified to carry it for work, but there doesn't seem too be any wording about it being a tool:confused:. I also have have never been approached by a Leo about what I'm carrying, and have worked in some Fed institutions i.e. NASA, and a VA Hospital so maybe I'm making too much over nothing. I'm just a little leary about EDC'ing for work due to the length. I'm trying to decide on whether to keep it, or trade for a more sheeple/legal friendly blade.

Dave

You might trade it in for a mini Mk1. It is only slightly longer than 2.5" (2.88"), but is still a real fine knife. I've EDC'ed the mini for some time now.

onlyaire, you're "justified" in carrying it any damn place you choose. Go AROUND the "towns" that have those "laws."
Jesus, the only good I can see from modern society is that prison ain't gonna be much of a change.

Lavan,

You are right, and I pretty sure I'm just going to hold onto the Ritter MKI. I'll EDC it for work and I can carry it in my town. Which doesn't have anything on the books, except for sales, so the states 4" rule is my guide. I will buy a Spyderco Delica as a sheeple friendlier EDC, for when I'm riding through .

Ken, I already own a Ritter Mini grip and I agree it is a fantastic knife. Prior to the Ritter I had a BM 556, and sold it, because I thought the handle was a tad short for my hand. Well a deal appeared for a Ritter Mini, and I couldn't pass it up. On this one though I put a Lanyard on and it gives my hand a little more to grip. A simple but effective solution.

Are.............. you............... saying.................... the..............
Mini................ Ritter................... is .........DIFFERENT............
from............. the.................... 556 BM?

Aaaaarrrrhhhhh (if true)

I thought they were the same and I find the 556 a tad small, but that was my deciding point on the RSK full size.

IS the mini Ritter larger than the 556 handle?

:confused::eek:

Nope...I'm not saying that...same grip. I just made a Lanyard for the Ritter Mini, and the knot gives me something for the rest of my hand to grip. If I would have done this to me ex-556, I probably would never have sold it. Of course I probably wouldn't have the Ritter Mini now so I guess it was Karma...lol.:D
