Thank you for your extremely generous gesture to my daughter Kimberly at Blade. She was thrilled. To give away a knife to an admiring little girl is really something special.
I don't know if I gave you the background of what happened to her or not.
She was struck in a hit-and-run in July of 2002 at age 21. She sustained a broken pelvis, cracked vertebrae, severely lacerated liver, closed head injury, brain stem injury, facial structure injury including two cracked eye sockets, and optic nerve damage. At first the doctors would give us no chance of her surviving. Two weeks later they thought that she would always be comatose. Two months later one doctor assured us as she lay in a vegetative state that "You should never expect more than what you see now. This is the way she will always be." I wish that they could have seen her at Blade, handling knives safely and charming everyone in sight. And write this down. She is going to walk again. She is one tough and determined young lady. And people showing her such kindnesses as you did
can only speed the process of recovery.
