I loved the Gladius from the moment I saw the first pics, especially when I saw a bruiser version. I didn't originally plan on getting one due to the price and not being able to attend Blade in person. Hogs are great people though and David Brown scored some awesome bruisers for me, a BOSS Jack and a Gladius! Also a couple of Basic 11's. I have no idea how to make the budget this month, but no regrets, I've been broke before and it never killed me LOL

The night I brought them home they looked like this.

A pair of Jacks.

I couldn't resist playing with the Gladius though as it is just a beast of a blade and by that I mean this blade to me is a poor man's MOAB and then some. Kind of like a hand axe combined with a short sword, it chops wood to beat hell and I mean you actually get a rush while you are swinging it at the hapless target. It is heavy, but the balance is great and just plain works. I'm talking wood chips flying 10 or more feet when you connect!:thumbup: It makes one heck of a tree trimmer too, like a Ruck on steroids. The holes around the fasteners are very sharp though with the G10 and so I sanded them down a bit so it didn't hurt to use bare handed. I also took advantage of the opportunity to make the top layer of black more visible and I am very happy with it now. I still haven't played around with the BOSS Jack yet, mostly because I was having too much fun terrorizing the back yard with the Gladius. The only company I had were my dogs, but they are worse photographers than I am though so no pics of the action, but here is a pic of the new look of the handles. It washed up real nice too and doesn't even look used.

That's Awesome:thumbup:
I love the handle mod:cool:

Very nice..... can't wait to see some sheaths made for this beast so I can put it into the edc rotation ;-)

Thank you for the review. I've been wondering how the Gladius would handle chopping.

I want one even more now. :(

Maybe tomorrow ;)

Been a busy week.

Awesome pics Tim, I will have to come over & help with the picture taking.

 Ya - but now lets see it chop down an oak tree, or slice a nice big steak, or maybe decapitate a good sized cardboard box - or SOMETHING!!:D:D

Nice blade - great grab!!

Blade Must be quite a party to put a dent into the Force Of Nature that is Amy0 !!!

And she is such a spry young woman - must be an accumulative effect. Amy how many Blades has it been for you now? 5 or 6 - more??! That deserves at least a week in the Caymans - to recharge! :D:thumbup::D

(but of course I tease - as I have not been to one ....yet :) )

Ummm...

I had (kinda) recovered from blade HOWEVER I had a team in the local RELAY FOR LIFE and was up all day(6am) Friday until Saturday (3pm)non stop walking and raising money:)

I do have to admit I stopped by my mom's house to pick up my little Boosay and she said I smelled and looked like a zombie:eek::eek:

We raised alot of money for cancer this weekend and I am very proud that I was a part of it:):)

That's really awesome of you Amy. But do you ever just...sleep? lol :)

NOPE....Not with the Gladius.... I kinda derailed this thread for that I am very sorry:):)

but the GLADIUS SO RULES:thumbup::thumbup:

I can not wait to get my Satin with Black G-10:D:thumbup:

No worries Amy, wish I could have met you and the rest of the crew at blade and you will definitely love your Gladius.

Ok, so I just went back out into the cool of a 90* evening to try to get some user shots. Videos would have to be done by David Brown if he can squeeze in the time between squishing kydex.

Earlier mentioned tree trimming courtesy of the Gladius with my non-assisting assistant photographers.

These are all in the order they were taken as I chopped and will cover the course of the next several posts.

Wow. Much credit to you for using that thing. I'd have my car chopped in half seconds after removing the Gladius from its packaging. Bravo!

How is the edge geometry? Does it really bite into the wood, or just bash it out of the way?

More of a bash than a bite. On my CG, the edge is very obtuse (not quite 90* but it looks like more than 60*) so it doesn't bite like the much thinner edge of the B11. The weight and length makes up for it though so you can get a lot of material removed fast even when the cuts are getting deeper and wider. When I get back up to Montana I will try cutting down a dead tree with it and see how that works out. The edge still looks like brand new though due to it's thickness and feels just as sharp as new which was not shaving sharp to begin with. I could hold the blade end in my hand without cutting myself when it was new. I can only imagine what the satin ones will be like, but I'm not getting one so someone else would have to fill us in on that.
