Last week I won Clich's massive multi-prize giveaway. I got home from work an hour ago, and guess what greeted me when I walked inside the door.

Man, oh man. This is it. The infamous Snakeskin 5 that started the Cliching frenzy among us Beckerheads. This knife is the reason I started modding my own knives, and I know that it's also the inspiration for several of our other members' desire to remake their Beckers according to their own whims and desires.

Right away, you can tell that this is no safe queen. Clich has been using this blade, and using it hard. But despite that, the edge is undamaged by any kind of abuse. And speaking of edges, this is the first Fisked knife I've ever seen in person. I've been convexing my knives for a month or so now, but I've never thinned out an edge to this degree for fear that I was doing something wrong. But let me tell you guys something: If you've never seen a Fisked blade in action, you have no idea what a sharp edge is. The knife came with the edge dulled a bit, so I repaired to the shop and grabbed my Work Sharp to put the edge back on, which was surprisingly easy to do. I even freehanded it. The Fisking makes getting the right angle easy.

Once the edge was put back on--Hooooly Crap! I couldn't believe how easily the Fisked edge goes through anything. Newspaper and notebook paper sliced clean with no effort at all. A stand of dandelions was severed so clean and easy, like a laser-beam scythe, that I was open-mouthed flabbergasted. This knife is amazing.

Now, although I've always liked the BK-5, it wasn't my favorite Becker model. I'm usually a clip point kind of guy. But now, with as sharp and fast as this 5 is, I know why Clich loves the design so much. A fisking makes all the difference in how the 5 works. I can't wait to take this camping in a few weeks. The Snakeskin 5 is going to become my favorite camp knife, I guarantee.

So thank you once again, Clich. This blade is most excellent. I love it.:D

u lucky bastid! LMAO

I gots to try this here Fisking stuff out. Lord knows I need to learn SOME sort of sharpening method!

And I really need a 5.

Awesome. Glad it got there OK. I forgot to resharpen it sorry about that. Btw how does it feel in hand? I didn't like the weight anymore but for someone else it may be just right

I'm looking forward to working on a 5 myself. Are you going to rehandle it, or leave it as is?

Well, I'm thinking that if I thin out the top of the handle then it will turn out just fine. Clich said he was disappointed with his handle mod, but I think that's just because it doesn't feel like a standard Becker anymore. But I think that if I thin out the scales at the top, near the blade, then it should feel great. I do like the fact that the choil is now more accessible with Chich's mod, which makes fine tasks easier.

Don't worry. I liked doing the sharpening myself.

It feels good in the hand. Not like a normal 5 anymore, but more like a heavy kitchen knife. I imagine that this is what the classic English Trade knife felt like in the hand, with a handle designed not so much for chopping, but rather for cutting and whittling and for doing food prep and skinning.
