It had a few scratches on the lock bar, but when I took a good look under the clip, it has a channel milled on the outside of the lock bar. Is this an artifact from milling? Could it weaken the lock bar? It is probably ~ 1mm deep

One last question, how tight will the clip be with the hardware removed? I took the hardware out to get a better look but the clip isn’t going anywhere, is it pressed in?

I suppose theoretically if you were trying to snap the lockbar off it might make that more likely to happen. However you would never push the lock bar that far over anyway.

Basically I am saying it may make a tiny difference, but only under circumstances where you had already overflexed the lockbar so far over thst it would destroy the lock. Interestingnftu

On sebenza's with inlays. That milling is a stop or transition point from the polished surface to the bead blasted surface. The lockbar on Crk's are always blasted. Imagine that area past the milling being polished under the clip? It'd be tough to keep friction on the pants pocket.

I suspect this is the same for the inkosi now as well. The inlaid micarta inkosi are all bead blasted while the inlaid carbon fiber inkosi are polished up to that milling point. Basically, Instead of making a bunch of lock-sides for the inlaid inkosi models with and without those millings they make the one you have there for all, then polish the models that are necessary up and to that point.

The clip is really tight fit into that seated pocket. Needs a bit of a wiggle to get it to move with the screw removed. Sometimes it may even need a little nudge (pry) from underneath. If your going to do that I suggest a some plastic utensil, chopstic, sturdy thin piece of wood to prevent scratching.

I have 2 large and 2 small Inkosi's with inlay and yes, they have the transition grooves milled on the lock bar. These go back to September 2016.

Thank you for the info, I have to admit that I was a little embarrassed when I pulled my Micarta 21 out of my pocket to find the same milling :)
