Well, thanks for nothing, guys. I made the mistake of checking this forum out and now I have this incredible appetite for an HI khukuri. Problem is I have no $$$, so I can't act on these primal urges that fill my mind with dreams of chopping and destoying all manner of scrap materials in my backyard! It's agonizing!!!! Please put me out of my misery......

Chiro, take heart. I sometimes have a reject which I give away. Will Kwan has one as I recall and so does Cliff. They might be kind enough to give you their impressions of these HI rejects.

Keep reminding me that you want a reject or I'll forget.

Cool deal, Uncle! If Cliff hasn't destroyed it yet, then one would probably syand up to my jobs! Maybe it would be the first HI khukuri with a Kydex sheath even! :-) If you get a reject and feel the need to give it away to someone, please remember me. Otherwise I hope to have money sometime in the near future for it. We'll see how things go...thanks, Unlce!

I think the rejects may be the most beautiful of all the Kuhkuris. I haven't seen one yet and my villager isn't bad at all to what the rejects look like I understand.

I have a couple of books that have a pic of an Old Indin lady that to most people is as ugly as they come. She has very deep wrinkles all over her face and her eye folds make her eyes look like mere slits. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
She says."The Grandfathers have plowed my face for many years and they have plowed it very deep!"

Perhaps that came from reading too much of Robert Heinleins' work in years past. I think the "deeply plowed" has proven its toughness and gentleness.

When you finally get one are you gonna make a Kydex scabbard for it?
I am wondering if there could be a
'U' shaped section to guard the edge that could then be covered with leather to complete the scabbard.
I will talk with you more about it later when I get my 18" AK. I am going to try and design a scabbard that will hold a longer bladed knife in place of the karda and am kicking around several ideas.
I am thinkng about using a Puukko I have with a 5 3/4" blade. Like the Kuhkuri this is another knife that has been tried and proven to be true over the years. Mine is the old style with the laminated blade. I think it would be good choice for what I am trying to come up with.

I haven't considered the design of a Kydex sheath yet...tough to do without a khuk to design it around, first. I didn't consider the chamkas, but it shouldn't be too hard to integrate those into the design in some way...someone else was looking for a kydex sheath for his HI khuk, and I offered to do it and if he liked it he could buy it. It would certainly take a lot of material (probably $15-$20 worth) as well as a lot of hardware (probably $10), but it would be cool all the same. I'm thinking price would be in the $50-$60 range, but I have no idea if I could pull it off or not. if someone wants to send a khuk for me to play with, we could work out a deal, I'm sure.

I use my reject khukhuri mainly as a practice khukhuri. Swinging against air, 2x4's, chasing paper around the apartment, etc.

The reject Ang Khola has two small fold lines on it one near the tip and the other on the forward part of the belly. I tried prying with it and the knife held up fine. The khukhuri was embedded in a stump and I put my full weight on the handle. There was little deflection and the khukhuri eventually popped out. The butt cap came loose but was easily fixed with epoxy.

The reject Ang Khola out chops my first quality Ang Khola due to its heavier weight.

Thanks for the update, Will. I think that reject HI is going to last longer than you or I.

Perhaps Bill could send a reject to chiro in return for some kydex sheaths which, in turn he might send to those who want one.Not me.
