Just wanted to express my thanks for a great forum. The short stories by Carl, the magnificent photos of wonderful knives by many friends, the great discussions. I hope I was able to contribute in a small way, here and there. It would appear that my little offerings have been offset by a scurrilous slander, to wit, my simple quote " American jobs make America strong." For this faux pas I do apologize. It is obvious that I am in the wrong place, but I shall not violate these sacred halls any longer. God bless you all and goodbye.

No, you must not leave! Your contributions are great and a statement like that is no faux pas!

I would HATE to see you leave, what you said is true. I appreciate your input here immensely!!!

Please reconsider?

Paul

Don't pull up your panties and go home ! Stay and speak your mind. You're as valued as any here.

It's a great forum because it sustains diverse views, we NEED all shades of opinion and experience because we all share a fundamental admiration for Traditional style knives.

I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and experience with all of us here.

Thanks, Will

No need to leave, just settle down comfortably there is a place for every traditional knives lover.

Mike

I wouldn't let something like that ruin your experience here. We all say what's on our mind at times. That type of discussion can get pretty heated, I think the mods were just trying to keep the focus on the knives, and not the other stuff.

I am guessing this is referring to Knarfeng's post in another thread. Don't take that personally in the least, it's just a gentle reminder for us all. Please feel free to stick around and keep chatting. We've all (or most of us, at least) been nudged in the ribs once or twice by a mod. It's their duty. Nothing to get offended by.

I understand how you feel. I got dinged by a mid on another forum and it left a bad enough taste in my mouth I left the forum and haven't been back since.

However, I agree with jc, stick around. I think Frank's post wasn't aimed at you in particular, but rather just a reminder to us all to keep the conversation on topic. Sometimes they have to step in after the thread deteriorates into bad stuff. That doesn't happen here because of two things.
1. Generally everyone here is mature and plays nice
2. Frank and Gary are really good at nudging threads back into topic instead of just locking them when they get unruly. A stitch in time saves nine kind of thing.

So, stay a while longer. Certainly, if you wish to step back and read more and post less, feel free to do that to, but do stay. In time you may feel differently.

Okay, okay, just hang on a cotton pickin' minute here.

Your chair is still there by the cracker barrel, theres a pot of coffee on top of the stove, so lets talk about this. If you leave, then we have to tighten up the circle of chairs on the porch, and that's too much like work. Then there's the coffee pot itself. You leave and then we have that much coffee left in the pot. The extra sandwich on the counter will go to waste. Besides, we'll miss you. Anytime there's a vacancy in the liars circle, it diminishes us all. So you have a duty not to leave. And when evening rolls around, and the jug gets passed around, that means we have to drink more to use up your share. When we drink more, we end up staggering home, and the old lady gets PO'ed at us. When the old lady gets PO'ed at us, then we end up sleeping on the couch. When we end up sleeping on the couch, we can't up in the morning without a crick in our back.

Do you want to be the cause of all that???

Come back up here, sit down and have some coffee, and lets talk about it.

Diverse opinions make America (and Canada) strong!

I am sure there was just a timing error, or a misunderstanding!
Small potatoes!!

Stick around Cal! We appreciate you greatly!!

Dont leave over a silly slight, i left another forum over a similar thing and it was the only forum i could figure out how to post pictures on and as a consequence it now seems as if i do not really have any knives cos i cant figure out posting, doh...

It was not a matter of timing, nor was he reacting to my post in that thread. He received a warning for his post which did not meet the posted guidelines of the Traditional Forum. I gave another poster in that thread a warning for that as well.

No points go with a warning. It's just a quick reminder of the forum rules.

These rules have been in place since before Gary and I started moderating. All posters are expected to follow the forum guidelines. If you are new and unfamiliar with the Traditional Forum Guidelines, I have provided a link to the sticky. I have also quoted the section in question.

Guidelines For The "Traditional Folders & Fixed Blades" Sub-Forum

Political, Economic & Religious Commentary; Offshore Manufacturers & Brands:

This is not the "Political" or "Current Events" sub-forum nor is it the appropriate area for the examination of religious topics, beliefs or proselytizing.
We have many nationalities, faiths and beliefs represented here so please be considerate of the feelings of the other members of our community and keep religious and nationalistic messages and statements out of forum posts.

This forum is not the venue for diatribes on economics, political policies, customs or the governments (and entities) of foreign countries which are the home to various knife manufacturers.

We are a large international community and we want our "virtual living room" to be a comfortable and rewarding place for all to visit and participate in without feeling singled out or harrassed.

Bladeforums has "Political", "Feedback" and "Current Events" sub-forums available for those discussions and any such threads will be closed or moved to the appropriate venue.

We understand that many knives and brands/marks that were once produced here in the USA are now produced overseas, whether that offshore manufacture resides in Europe, South America or Asia.

Be that as it may, the Traditional Forum exists to discuss the knives (pro and con) as opposed to hosting rants about overseas manufacture in general or specific countries in particular.

We feel it is safe to say that we all want to see the U.S. cutlery industry thrive. If for some reason you cannot countenance purchasing knives manufactured overseas then by all means "vote" with your dollars but do not use the forum for promoting any particular agenda.
