I'd like to thank everyone who posts in these forums for all of the great information. I had read about problems with the older clip style on the Microtech LCC, so the day I ordered one I also called Microtech to request one of the newer clips. One problem solved in advance.

When I got the LCC I discovered that none of my Torx bits would fit and posted asking what size was needed. Not only did I find out what size to buy (T-6) but I was warned about the locktite that Microtech uses on them and told how to loosen it up safely (soldering iron). Two more problems solved in advance.

Yesterday I sat down on the sofa and caught the clip of my LCC against the side cushion. It bent outward at almost a right angle, right across the weak point of the first cutout.

Rather than being upset at the damage to a favored, and expensive, knife, I was able to just pull out my tools and swap out the clip I already had, with the tools I already had, using techniques I knew would work. Thanks to all the information from BladeForums there was no stress, difficulty, or delay involved. Five minutes later my LCC was back in my pocket and better than new.

Thanks!

Glad we could help! But I thought you stripped the screws already? My warning came to late, or was than someone else?

Once and for all, will a hair dryer loosen the loc tight? I have a solid clip on order and will change it on my LCC. I do NOT want to go out any buy a S Iron.

Hey General...

It depends on WHICH loctite you're talking about. If it's the blue loctite, (non-permanent) then you shouldn't even need a hair dryer, but it might help.
If it's the RED (permanent) loctite, it MUST be heated to 450 degrees F. before it will break loose.
The only MT I own is my HALO and I've never tried to take it apart, (the temptation is growing) so I don't know which they use, but it's hard to imagine they'd use the red stuff.
You really don't want to use that unless it's a screw you KNOW you're never ever going to try to take out.

Ah, in the Uk loc tight is just a brand of super glue. There are thick and runny versions but not the versions you describe.

It has been my experience that the T6 on the clip will stip without some kind of heating.

Now I am looking at wheither a hairdryer will do the job, but my dad may have a soldering Iron...somewhere... What would happen if you left it in contact for 5 or even 10 seconds? Would it damage the CF?

I wasn't the one who had already stripped the screws. Thanks goodness!

I used a soldering iron on my LCC, so I don't know whether a hair dryer would do the trick. I wouldn't count on it, given the difference in temperature.

And I used a relatively low-power electronics iron but I did touch each screw for around 30-seconds without damaging the carbon fiber.
