A while ago I came here announcing that I was going to buy a stylish folder as a gift for myself being smoke free for one year. Due some great advice, many great suggestions, and a lot of hand wringing, I purchased a Spyderco Kiwi, and DAMN! am I happy!

This little bugger rides quietly, has great classic looks, and sharpens up like a razor blade in less time than it has taken me to place this post. I have cut carpet, cardboard, packing tape, and bale twine, and it hold the edge well. My only complaint is that my wife is on my back to quit shaving my left side appendages.

Thanks so much to all of you that gave me some teriffic suggestions.

(And for all forum members that haven't checked out the Kiwi, do yourself a favor and take a look!)

I hate to say it but for someone like me who loves large blades, the Kiwi has taken over my pocket, at least at work where there are so many sheeple. It is a finely made knife with classic lines but with a useful Warncliffe style blade. Doesn't even raise an eyebrow at work.

If anyone is looking for a small blade without a clip to carry in the bottom of their pocket, this is it.

Congrats Farmboy.

It's a great knife, like you say a regular pocket razor.

The one thing that really surprises me is how good it feels in the hand. Most knives this small feel "loose" in the hand and don't feel like you should tackle anything tough with them, the Kiwi on the other hand sinks into the hand with a very secure grip and you know t's not going to budge even if you attempt to top and tail an elephant.

rumours abound of a XYZ - can't remember the name - that'll be a bigger version of the Kiwi... yummy!

I had my eye on that little Kiwi at ECCKS. It was interesting in it's design that you can really grab a hold of that knife when using it, more so than other similarly sized knives, in comparison of how they look in the folded position.

Highly desireable little knife.

So do the right side...:p

Is the Kiwi made for one handed or two handed opening? I know it has the hole, but it looks a little small to be opened one handed. I've been thinking about picking one up for a while now.

Farmboy, I think you made a very wise purchase. I don't own a Kiwi yet, but it is high on the list of production knives...love that jigged bone.

It is a very interesting knife, we have had several come throught the shop and they are a good choice. paul
