It isn't very often I get so riled up about a knife. I usually wait for something to go wrong with a new knife before I am truly happy with it. But when I opened a silver, red, white and blue box to put the knife out on display, (I work the knife counter at a sportsman's warehouse) I knew I had to own one. The fit and finish are as perfect as I have ever seen. It is surely one nice knife. I will post pictures later when I can get my camera charged.

On a side note- All praise to Kershaw for being on top of their game. I have sold more Kershaw Knives this past holiday season than both Spyderco and Benchmade combined. It is not for lack of trying either. Kershaw simply has more to offer at a lower price point with good quality. It is definately easier to sell a guy on a 45 dollar leek than a 75 dollar mini griptilian. I only wish we would get more of the high dollar Kershaws, but, such is life.

yeah... that's one of the greatest values out there. I've had a couple. I think sure who did that one for Kershaw. Maybe Lee? Great knife!

I'm almost positive it was this guy. Welcome aboard little hombre!

Tim Galyan designed it. Great knife just a little big for me for EDC. I would like to see one made in the 4" or so size. Or a G-10 JYD would also be nice. But the new Skyline (is that the right name?) is only a few months out.

My Lahar is in my pocket now. I own a lot of folders, ranging from a few bucks to + $400 and for the money, the Lahar is a real value.

Hey little hombre...you guys got any Surefire LED's on sale at the Warehouse?

Oh, and the Lahar is a great knife! Welcome to the forums!

Agreed. A MINI (<--Ahem...) lahar would definitely find its way into my pocket. I had a lahar but gave it to my sister's fiancee, since it was a tad bit big for my EDC use. He carries that thing wherever he goes now. By the way, that clip on the custom lahar is freaking sweet!

Yeah the knife is a little bigger than most but it carries fairly well in the back pocket. The only issue I've had with mine is having the clip catch on my car's seat belt and bending to hell. I feel the knife would be perfect if the forefinger grove was more recessed like in the JYD II. I sanded a relief on the lock side with some sandpaper wrapped around a pen and it made a big difference in my rather small hands.

On a side note- Does anyone have any experience comparing Kershaw VG-10 to Spyderco VG-10 or any other knife company's. It would be interesting to see a comparison. I also wonder if the same company in Japan manufactures all the VG-10 stuff. Hrmmm...

Oh, and as far as led surefires- There is a sale as a matter of fact. The l2 lumax, a2 aviator, m3, u2 ultra, and kroma are more or less half off (at least at my story and I have no reason to believe they are different at any other store). There were a few more that were half off (m4, nx, and ax rechargeables) but the prices went back to full price today as a matter of fact. Sportsman's has a bad habit of not telling people what is for sale, which is ironic as most of the prices you see in their flyers are actually just normal prices. Most of the time the sales person are not aware of the price changes. We had full sized Ka-bars for 17.50! I didn't know until I had to change the price back up today.

*DISCLAIMER* - I am not trying to advertise for S.W. The job gets me through collage.

just thought that I would mention that the Lahar is almost 4" anyway. Did you mean 3" possibly? or smaller?

The one that I have is 4 7/8" closed. You must be talking about blade length, it is almost 4". I am talking closed size. Something around the Leek but with a heavier blade, Spyderco delica or native size. The small JYD in G-10 would be perfect!

yeah, i was talking about blade length. thats what i thought you were talking about. makes sense now. yeah a smaller Lahar would be cool.
