While poking around for something on my profile page recently, I noticed I became a BladeForums member exactly two years ago today (although I had lurked around BF as a visitor on intelligence-gathering missions for at least 6 months before officially joining). Perhaps that special date explains the flurry of generous gifts I've received recently from people on The Porch! ;) I want to use this post to express my appreciation for those thoughtful gifts.

There were rumors recently in the Rough Rider thread that Colt was going to soon stop making knives, and some of us mentioned some of the Colt patterns we'd like to pick up while they were still available. Soon thereafter, GasMan1 (Dave) graciously offered to send me a wonderful Colt buckshot bone canoe! Since I'm a big fan of the pattern and the covers, I was thrilled to accept Dave's offer! Here are a couple of photos of the knife after it arrived; as a current thread might put it, the red gaskety stuff is just icing on the cake! ;) Very kind, Dave; thanks!

I recently congratulated r redden (Randy) on some nice sowbelly stockman knives he displayed. Next thing I know, he offers to send me a Marbles stag bone sowbelly stockman! What a nice knife, and what a nicer guy (as many here can attest)! The stag bone is exceptionally well-done IMHO, and the blade combination is an intriguing variation on the "stock" stockman: sheepsfoot is replaced by a second clip (droppoint?), and the open clip main makes an angle with the handle that I've not seen before. I look forward to seeing how the knife performs! Thanks for a superb knife, Randy!

Last month Tsar Bomba had a "flash GAW" in which he challenged us to guess which of his knives had cut him while he was setting up a photo. I had the good fortune to be declared the winner, and he sent me this Taylor Schrade Walden anniversary whittler. The bone covers are a "sight for sore eyes" AND a "touch for sore hands", and the secondary blades are incredibly thin! I of course emailed my appreciation to TB long ago, but I wanted to publicly acknowledge his gift here (even though he had the misfortune of subsequently being banned :()

But that's not all! Tsar Bomba also shipped me a 1978 Rogers Wostenholm NKCA gunboat! I'm enchanted by canoe patterns in all variations, and this is my first gunboat. At 3 5/8 inches, it's not as massive as some of the gunboat patterns I've seen, and seems more user friendly. The jigged bone covers look very rich to me; they were apparently called "jigged green bone" but I need just the right kind of light to perceive the green hue. I like the stockmanish blade set-up (but with pen instead of sheepsfoot). Thanks to Tony for a very thoughtful gift!

Finally, I made a trade with LastRodeo (Mike) a while back, and when he sent me my knife, he snuck in a canoe that hadn't been mentioned in our negotiations! It's a Remington canoe with maple (?) burl covers, and Mike knew I had one just like it and wanted to send me a back-up! Here's the beauty Mike so generously sent (first two pics below) and my "original" (third pic below). I really appreciate your kind gift, Mike!

Most excellent from all participants, as usual. Congrats on the 2 year mark! Burl covers keep getting further and further into my heart. I just love the depth and character they add, and that Remington from Mike is no exception!

All of them are pretty nice GT , particularly the Remingtons !!! The generosity of the Porch continues .

Thanks, jrawk, and IMHO it looks better in person than in the photos.

Thanks, Jack, although it might be more accurate to make a slight change in word ordering in your claim: I feel like I've been a little addition to our great community. :D But I'm happy to try to do my part.
