A while back I was having problem grinding into the center portion of my convex blades. It was really annoying because if I pushed harder into the belt, I just took off more steel from the edge and spine, but I always had this ^&%$! center section that never got touched by the belt. I was using the center of the belt and the whole sections between the idle wheel and top of the platen on my Coote, rocking the blade, everything, and it was like the shields were on full in this stupid middle section. Anyway, someone told me to put some felt or something on the platen, then play like I was flat grinding. I had one blade mostly done and just needed to clean it up. I have no felt and I'm too lazy to buy any, so I used an old section of the camping mat I use for making Concealex sheaths, rolled a piece of duct tape and stuck it to the platen like that. Miraculously it stuck, and it worked decently. Not perfect, but I at least got into that elusive middle of the blade. Thanks for the advice!
