BF never ceases to make my day. I recently read about seat belts grabbing knife clips and depositing the knife on the floor between the seat and car door. Well, last night my wife said she lost her Chive, which she carried yesterday. Since we visited the grocery store yesterday, I went out to our car and there it was. She said she heard a noise, but thought it was her phone or the seat belt hitting the door post. Anyway, thanks to the posters who offer this kind of advice. She won't raise her eyebrow next time BF dues come around!

Haven't had that happen (yet), but had another clip-related car thing first happen many years ago that drove me crazy till I figured it out. In 2000 I got my first car with a leather wrapped steering wheel. One day I'm driving and I feel a rough patch on the wheel, right at the bottom. It's all chewed up and I'm like wtf? Yup, while getting out of the car, the clip must have rubbed against the bottom of the steering wheel. Was so obvious once I realized it, but took me a while to figure it out. And it probably happened on previous cars too, but they didn't have leather so it didn't leave a mark.

That's happened on every car I've owned lol! Of course my last 5 cars had leather steering wheels, and a few others before that. Even vinyl scuffed like that.
