I began lurking here a few weeks back to learn about knives. I use one every day of my life, and can not remember when I got my first. Never thought much about blade steel or liners, could get some knives sharp and others just frustrated me. Now I have a clue!
I knew I would be able to spend about $300 on knives to replace a work knife (Hammond Cruiser= first knife I ever spent money on) that was being used for work and EDC.
After following links and trying to understand what you all were talking about, I went to the A. G. Russell knife store in Rogers, Ar. and left with a Dozier folding hunter with D2 blade for work, an Mcusta folder with VG10 for EDC, and replaced my old piece of really cheap camp knife (I swear it would lose its edge in the sheath!) with a KABAR. Bought a sharpening kit with 'em and stayed under the limit. The Dozier is at the local VoTec now getting a clip.
---can't thank you all enough for sharing so much information:thumbup:
