I might have mentioned that I liked his knife - I do that a lot, if I really like a knife.
But Gary decided I should have this one! Thanks Mr. G2!

Now folks this is not a plain old French knife! This knife's edge is honed to an awesome razor edge! And it is fitted to an over-the-top leather sheath! I did custom leatherwork for a few years, and never made one this nice!

A beautiful gift from one of our talented Stalwarts!
Thanks Gary!!

A very nice knife and sheath, and a very kind gesture

That's a beauty. And in carbon steel no less.

Very generous of you Gary.

Beautiful knife, and even better gesture.
Sooner or later I will grab a Le Compact for myself as well :p

Charlie, you are most welcome sir! and short story on the knife, I kind of influenced my friend in Australia, Ken, aka harronek about the Chambriards, and he picked up that lovely Compagnon sized one, in Carbone blade no less ! Well his tastes moved on, he has other jewels he favours now and surprised me a while back by sending that to me! And I loved it and his friendship too of course, but I've changed my tastes regarding carbone blades and wasn't carrying it as much and knew that Charlie is a connoisseur of carbone blades and also does so much to help the forums out, especially traditional folks, that I immediately thought of him and checked to make sure that it might be one that he would like, a big thumbs up and she was on her way :)

Now that sheath, she's a real treat, very solid work by Ken, rugged and will last forever I'd say!

Again, you are most welcome Charlie, thanks for all you do around these parts! and Ken, thanks for making this happen too, as I first explained my idea to get his permission to gift this to Charlie and he was all for it.

That´s a nice Le Thier, my friend!

A great knife from a great member to one of the greatest guys around here :)

Well done, you both.

Carbon as well eh? Nice touch all round gentlemen.

Gary, you have any stag ones loitering around the place you no longer need...??:D:D:D

Regards, Will

Thanks Humppa and Will, I've just one stag but that rascal is sticking around until I leave this mortal coil I think/hope ;)

The Chambriards do know how to grind a blade, these come down to a nice thin edge, as Charlie says, they also take a very good edge as well!

My choice of the Le Thiers Chambriard Compact was also influenced by Gary's fine review. Thanks, Gary.

Glad to help and the Compact is my current carry, well, trading off and on with my Case Seahorse but it's there, here's a shot I took after cutting down through the book, sent this to Mr Chambriard, he seemed impressed ;)

The day I get my Chambriard, I will have to thank Gary as well  although I don't think I will ever get it as sharp as yours :o

It's something to strive for Fausto. I first saw Gary do that test with a Kershaw several years ago. It's only recently I've been able to do it myself.

Admittedly my edges aren't as pretty as Gary's, and I take much too long getting there, but there's something very satisfying in getting the most out of your steel.

Charlie, congrats on a beautiful knife and custom sheath. And razor sharp to boot! :)
Gary, well done sir, a great gift from a great gentleman

Beautiful sheath, Ken!! The scratches are on my scanner glass, and not the sheath.

That phonebook test is one I have not seen before! Holy Mackerel!!

Great Knife, Even Greater Generosity by a GREAT GUY to another GREAT GUY. :)

For those that want to try this at home, remember you have to take your knife and make a straight push cut down. No slicing motion whatsoever...that would be cheating. ;)
