Well I'm new here and I've been lurking around. I a few Gurkha friends after living in Hong Kong for a while and was always fascinated by the Kukri. well, long story short after coming to the states i was glad to see somone stocked high quality kukris! So I bough a British Army service from HI a while back... But then decided that one may not be enough as I wanted to get one painted with duracoat as an experiment... So I got another!
So a big thank you to Uncle Bill for the fast service and providing such great kukris (and therefore supporting Nepal)!
:D

Bill is pretty under the weather right now, to say the least. OK, short version.

He went to Nepal in the Peace Corps but came home because of medical problems. After getting back in health he went back on his own looking for some answers which he found in Tibetan Buddhism. One of the tenets is "right livelihood", and he felt an obligation to repay the Nepalis who'd brought him to a spirituality he could practice.

So he looked around for things the Nepalis did worth exporting. He and his father-in-law tried having Khuks made "right" and selling them over here. He tried by placing ads in the knife magazines, and finally on the net.

Himalayan Imports ended up with it's own arun ( shop ) a few years back. As a result it's sales benefit probably over a hundred people in one way or another.

If you find one of Bill's posts, click on one of the links below his signature and you'll learn a lot about the business and the people involved.

Thank you for a comment I could run with and use to tell the newer folks how and where to look to find out more,

Maybe a sticky with Uncle's links and a Title like " About Himalayan Imports " ?

Let me think on it. Sometimes the right answers have to sneak in the back door while I'm otherwise occupied.

Welcome Daga.

Nice post, Rusty.

wait...

er...

hmmmmm....

(can I get back to you?) (Edit: got it in two.)

That is brilliant.

Thanks Rusty.

And welcome Daga.

Welcome Daga.
There are a few Glorious Beacons of Light around here you may want to shield your eyes.

..and Paul was not the Walrus, but Rusty really is the Man standing behind the Green curtain. Like Dorothy, we're too clever to ignore him.

Naturally, understanding what I just said is not a prerequisite for having a good time in HI forum.

Josh, I honestly believe at that point it is too late for medication to make any difference.

For you maybe, but I'm confident that if I just up my dosage a bit, you'll make perfect sense! :D :p

The Acid test. 2500 micro- oops, Where was I? Oh, Yeah, that's right, this is the improved munk, the one who made it out of hell and lives in Montana. OK. I can do that. Hmmm. Just looking around, taking stock, you understand, I wonder if my hair is still long. It's kind of medium. That could be bad, a bad sign. Josh, did we lose the Revolution?

munk

Nope...we won. Unfotunately, the disco revolution was right behind us and took over based on sheer numbers from rampant breeding and an abundant supply of polyester.

What IS this poop about I can't give rep to folks here in my community. Geez!!!!

That's at least two posts worthy of goodie points.

de revolution has not yet taken place. the event you refer to was a feint designed to lure the other lurkers out and make them feel secure so we could identify their power base and devise an appropriate set of strategies to nullify them by utilizing what they consider to be their own strengths as our strengths and pretending that we are rendered weak by them.

dunnno man, your hair keeps changing. far out. :)

Welcome Daga!:D

What? Something in the wind? :grumpy: Do I need too tune up my V-8 Rollator?

Thanks Himalayan imports!

and this, Daga, might be the archetypical welcoming thread.

We have gone from Rusty's profile of Bill M., to medications, to hallucinegenic drugs to faux revolution talk, to the rolling rollator APC, to the real strategy on power to the people.

We could not have constructed a more straight-line set of responses in the Cantina. :D

I think it's called "immersion therapy." Cope.

That is fine with me! This is definately a good place to be! Hope Uncle Bill recovers soon :(
