This newbie, lurker just got to spend some time on the board tonight and after drooling over the pics from the Guild show I wanted to publicly thank John for some advice that he gave me at the Blade show. He spent some time showing the mini7 to me after hearing my concerns--and unfortunate need for a smaller more PC EDC (hey, I work in an English department where the Mach1 and CQC7CN+skull clip are considered a little bit aggressive). I finally got around to ordering a CQC7A and mini-CQC7A, and John was absolutely right. They are both great right out of the box with good lockup and great utility/defense blades. I originally bought the satin Mini for airline travel--but it will probably be spending a lot of time with me because it is just so easy to carry. After looking at many knives in this size I have to say this one is the best in terms of gripping surfaces, just enough handle to be comfortable, and just enough blade for defense--qualifies in my book as a very usable gent's knife.
Now if I only had the money to get it customized . . .
Thanks again, John, for helping a newbie out--I know it was a real stretch for you to suggest buying another Emerson.

Chad-man!

Not a problem! Glad to be of help.

EKI has quickly grown into a pretty much full service line. At the show, it was pretty easy picking out knives to show folks for thier individual needs (like your own). But I will say that the guy that asked for a Dive knife threw me for a second. I ended up showing him a PUK and the La Griffe line.

There are several folks I'll remember from that weekend, you being one , this cute couple that came by everyday to look at the Commanders, the Blacks. (He ended up with one by shows end :D) And many other great people.

Take care and see ya next year.

John

I also found the mini CQC7's to be very handy despite the fact that in California there is no restriction on the blade size of a folder in your pocket. I'm never without my Commander (well, almost never) but have found the mini's with a non-serrated blade to be great. I like the fact that for a sub 3" blade they are not scaled down with thinner blade thickness and and smaller handles. They still have a good size handle and the the blade material is made from the same thickness as their bigger brothers.

Welcome !

Moorerwc: Firstly, welcome to the EKI Forum. As one of the newer members to this Forum myself, I'd have to say you'll find a lot of great information from all The Suspects who dwell in these posts :) .

These guys are a fairly tight group, who usually accept anyone willing to talk EKI knives. ;) (Just watch out for that Rearic guy!)

Hope to see you on the TAC-Chat line.

Welcome to the Forums and well wishes on your new knives; you made good choices.:)

John knows his stuff and is fun to disagree with from time to time.;)
