I was recently working on drawing a knife design for the design thread and I rediscovered my passion for art, so thank you Jeff . Five years ago I started taking an art class and I did pretty decent in it, but I dropped it two years ago and I am pretty sure that I haven't drawn anything after I dropped until tonight.

always good to go back to ones old interests and revisit them.... :)

Been meaning to ask you... still play Paintball? Going to Castle Conquest this year?

I Have almost stopped playing speedball, I used to go almost every weekend, but I do play in the occasional woodsball tournament or sometimes I will just get together with some friends and go up in the woods and play. As for Castle Conquest I haven't really decided yet, if I can get a friend or two to go with me I probably will. Otherwise driving will be a pain.

You going to Castle Conquest?

:D I just looked at Castle Conquest again, if I can get my ion fixed before April 25 I am pretty sure I see a road trip in the near future. I still have 3 months to figure things out.

Hi every one I am new to this forum, love everything about this company, and have a RC-4 and Izula...they are awsome. I am wondering if someone could explain this knife design for the design thread. Is this a contest or just for fun because I am interested in it. Also I was looking for the thread and didnt notice it so if someone could post the link here that would be great. Thanks

Right now its closed because a lot of people didn't follow the rules, no folders, no machetes, and no chatting. The thread is sort of a contest, but I was just having some fun. Basically if there is a design that Jeff likes there is a chance it might make it into production.

Also welcome to Blade Forums :D

Yupper-roo, this will be my second year at Castle :) I am an old school player, been playing since 90 or 91. Quit for a few years when my sons were born, but started again about 6 years ago. Got the bug bad for SpeedBall, played every weekend for two years, and one or two nights during the week. The next season all we did was Tourny's, local then a couple of NPPL's. Got tired of competing, sold off most of my high end stuff, bought more knives, and now just playin once in a while. Using a ProMaster at the moment. Had a couple of them, and had good luck with them. Play with Cater's Commandos for Castle.

Anyways, I hope we can hook up at Castle, paintball and knives, good food and beer.... sounds like heaven :)

I was almost in the same boat as you, got addicted to speedball played it almost religiously, started to compete in some small 3 man, but then money got tight and I started noticing a lot of wiping and complaining about calls and that took most of the joy out of the game. I now usually play with a tippmann pro-carbine. If that marker had a ball detent I would be in love.

Have either of you guys considered playing stock class? I used to be into speedball and such, but now I'm addicted to my Phantom and SC ball. Pump's just a lot more fun for me. Not to mention cheaper, not as much gear to haul around, and it takes a lot of skill. Give it a try sometime.

I have won an iron man competition with an old school pump, a tippmann (I cant quite remember the actual model name, SLG I think) But I was playing against 15 other players who were using 98s. Also during one game the sliding breech that lets you see when a paintball drops in front of the bolt got a paintball caught half in and half out and when I slide the breech up it chopped the paintball, I got splatter all over me, and a ref called me out, even tough it was a marker malfunction and not a hit by another player.

 how did this thread get so far off topic :D.

I would have shot the ref!

It was pretty tempting, but I did have paint on my arm so I just walked off the field. I did meet the ref a year or so later in a diner and talked to him (I knew him from JROTC) and I found out that he is now working in a coal mine. Only problem is he got an army scholarship, took the oath to defend the nation against all enemies foreign and domestic and then he dropped out to get a job in the coal mine cause it pays better. :grumpy: That just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm going to quit before this turns into a mini-rant.

Get me an addy, and I will get you a couple of Detents.. I will be using a ProCarbine this year at castle, to cut down on the amount of paint I use (ProMaster is scary fast). Went thru a case of pint in the first 90 minutes of Castle last year, and I can't afford that kind of play this year. Might even dig out my ProLite and use that for a bit. Anyways, got maybe 10 detents in my parts draw... LMK :) I think you are refering to either the Tippmann 68 Special OR the SL68. If it was a pump, then it was a SL-68 or SL-68II, great marker. Reffin aint easy, did it for a number of years. But your guy sounds like a meathead anyways. We lost a 5 man two years ago because one of my teammates stepped on a unbroken paintball and it splattered on his foot, the ref called him out... leaving it at a ratio of 5 on 1, me being the 1.... :/ (Say ouch at 20 times a second, times five) I was unthrilled we not only ended up placing second, BUT when I found the tourny the next weekend, the ref was on the team that took first.....
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

And the thread got so far off track because I had been meaning to ask you about your name for the last four months and I kept forgetting :D

:D SL-68II was the name of the marker, easiest marker to feild strip and put back together (minus the bolt catch). Also once you move the slide forward if you wait a little bit you can turn it into a 3 burst. As for the free detent thank you, but I have a couple of repair kits laying around. The pro-carbine was well used before I got it and I just figured they didn't have ball detents. I guess a mixture of small paintballs (it was pretty hot and dry) and a well worn detent lead be to believe it didn't have one. :D thanks for the info

Also I know reffing isn't easy, trying to watch the whole feild (speedball) and trying to get to a player to preform a paint check without getting your butt lite up, and then having to search a player for paint. I have only reffed for some fun small games and I don't believe I will ever ref for a tourney.

what a tank!

Tippmann builds some of the most durable markers I have played with. 98, procarbine, and you can abuse the heck out of a SL68II leave it lying for a year pick it up put some CO2 in it and it will still shoot. I have had a little bit of problems with the C3 and I haven't used the A-5 so I can't comment on it.

The only problems I have seen with the SL68II is if you over tighten a screw you may crack the the frame since its made out of some sort of metal I am forgetting the name of now:o.
