Well, i open my front door this morning to head to the post office, and low and behold the post office had come to me!! On my front porch were two boxes, one with BM 43 #032, and the other with a mint-in-box BM 48S.

Thanks to Dawkind who was kind enough to take a bit of a loss and trade me number 032 for number 017, i now have a matching set; BM 43 #032 and BM 47 #032.

As for the 48, i have a question. In over a year of collecting these things and checking the net daily, i'v seen practically every model bali up for sale at least once, from BM's to PC's to customs...Except for a 48. So my question is, why do they seem to be so rare??? Does anyone know how many were made compared to the 44 and 45? I paid a pretty penny for this knife, more than any other production bali i have, and it's not even a PC or an original Bali-Song cutlery. So did i make a good investment???
Thanks for any help:)

You know, I thought I had the 42 to go with the set, but I rummaged through my safe, and all I could come up with is a #31.

Sounds like you're on a roll, though. Keep it up!!

Thanks Blade, and that reminds me: If anyone does have a NIB #32 laying around, i may be interested. thanks again for any info on the model 48.

Yeah...very nice of "Dawkind"...to help out....as well as his other topic contributions. I'm embarrassed to say I don't know about the number made on the 48...(although I'm sure Chuck can help). It did surprise me to see it go over $300...and I would have hung in there except I do have one..., although I don't think it's quite as "unused" as that one. I bought it NIB and flipped in until in bled :) It's all relative anyway, but maybe Chuck can lend some history to the manufacturing count on 48's???

Enjoy it!!

I don't know the count but I do know S. has spilled tears over the broken 48 on his website, something to the effect," I broke my $#$#&(^% 48!!!!!!!!." I hate to say it but I was lucky enough to find/get a 48 without serrations new-in-the-box to go with my NIB 44 and 45.....:D.....Pictures to follow. IMHO the number of 48's was much lower than the output of 44's and 45's since I don't think the blade style was as popular.
