I am in freaking shock. I've seen and handled an AR before, but it wasn't MINE. The USPS man showed up an hour ago. I am now an official, AR carrying, Strider nut! So far, one pizza box has been laid waste. My AR is PERFECT. I'll write a review on it later. As soon as I finish this post, I'm going to go use my AR!

Mick & Duane, thank you for making such a superb tool. I am NOT a collecter. I am a USER. The AR is a user.

Matt, thank you for providing such great service. You go above & beyond. Ordering ARs with double thumblugs pre-installed; brilliant! You beat your ETA. These two things are good examples of underpromising & overdelivering. You're a man of your word.

I've got to go now.

Looking forward to your review.
I may write one also after my canoe trip.
And you're right, Matt is someone who's word you can depend on. He gives you a level of individual attention that the big dealers just can't or won't give. It's hard to find that type of person these days.

Lynn,
Glad to here you got your AR and like it. I knew that you would enjoy it. I am going to have stop playing with my folders for a few weeks. I am having surgery on my hand. No more flicking for a few weeks. Have fun with the new knife.

Zach

Way to go Lynn-happy anniversary! I just sent my AR back today for some fine tuning and a set of dual thumb studs.

Congrats, Lynn. I knew you would like the beast. And I'm glad you intend to make this knife a user, it deserves that. I'll talk to you later and let you blather and crow!

Life is good, isn't it?

I miss my AR, it's out getting Bodycoted. Just have to make do with my GB...

Congrats on your new knife!

I’m back. I’m not in shock, anymore, just a bit numb. Mick & Duane, this thing is a masterpiece. My first reaction when I opened the box was, “I’m not worthy.” I’m not joking.

Mick, I saw this post where you discussed ergonomics and Striders:

http://64.177.53.248/ubb/Forum18/HTML/000081.html

The AR must be one of the more “ergonomic” Striders. The AR feels like it was made for my hands. It feels "right" in either hand, in any type grip. It feels a lot better than my Sebenza or my old Benchmade Stryker.

The "ambi thumb studs" are great. I don’t understand why Strider folders come standard without them. I did install O-rings on them. I used #33 or 34 O-rings, whichever is smaller. The AR, just like my Sebenza, opens easier & quicker with my left hand. BTW, I'm right handed. Go figure.

Speaking of the tip, I've only drawn blood once, left index finger. The tip is about 1.5mm below the handle. Somehow, in my ignorance of the way the AR is inserted in a SOE sheath, I cut it with the tip. My wife repaired & reinforced it, no big deal. The tip is fine by me.

My AR opened stiff the first day or so. It feels great now.

I have almost no sense of smell, and when it does work, I can't trust it. I've smelled roses that I was buying for my wife that smelled like rotting flesh for instance. I can smell my AR. When I asked my wife about the smell, her reply was, "It doesn't smell good." Oh well. The oil used is turning black. Weird.

Sometime in the next week or so, I'm going to sharpen my AR. It's pretty sharp, but not near as sharp as it can be. The edge looks like it was sharpened on a belt or a grinder, one that wasn't too fine grain.

Fit and finish are as close to perfect as a tool like this should have.

Needless to say, the AR is now my EDC. Matt D, thanks again for the great service!

Lynn,
Not surprised with your enthusiasm. I once read: "Always carry (a blade) on your weak side so you can cut (someone) off your strong side". Not bad that this thing opens up easily on the left, I'm a righty also. And carry my GB on the left. Have to admit it opens inertially very easily on both sides as I try to familiarize myself constantly by opening it this way. Only draw back is the belt/pocket clip is so friggen secure that I ruin a set of pants or shorts a week ripping off a pocket. Mick/Duane Good Job on the clip!!!
Good to know your gear will be there when you need it :)
(Sorry Fred!)

quijanos, I know what you mean about the gorilla grip the pocket clip does on a pocket. The spring is strong and the G-10 is highly textured. It's almost like running a rasp on the edge of your pocket everytime you extract the knife.

I don't think I can EDC my AR until I get myself a sheath. (Otherwise, I'm going to have to buy new pants every few days). I'm still undecided on which ballistic nylon sheath model to get (the SOE or Eagle or other?). The kydex model I've seen on this forum leaves the AR too naked--for my taste--are there other kydex models? Sorry, this is starting to get too off-topic.
