My Switchplier broke and I sent it in and it was replaced without any problems. The new one had a phillips head instead of the hex adapter which is what I liked better. The new plier, after a small break in period, is just fine. Thanks for the great warranty service.

Hi Greg,

Sorry you had problems with your SwitchPlier. But it is also very good to hear that SOG's customers are serviced well by my staff. We know we make innovative and quality products. It's my goal to match this level of quality with excellent customer service. I'll pass these comments along to them on Monday.

Take Care!

Do all Switchpliers have phillips screwdrivers instead of the hex adapter now? I've always liked the Switchpliers, but the lack of a phillips made it less than ideal as an EDC for me. If a phillips is standard, or even optional now, I'll have one in my pocket quicker than you can say "Spring actuated gripping device".

The hex is a "double wide" bit... how does that work?
What about the Robertson for us Canucks???

Hi Guys,

The neat thing about SOG tools are that they can easily be disassembled for cleaning, altering, or customizing. With a bit of forethought and strategic planning, one can swap tool components around or swap them out for different ones.

The 1/4” drive is very often misunderstood. I often hear, “What is that?” as someone points at the 1/4” drive. When explained, they’re so excited they act like Christmas was going to come everyday of the year. With a standard adapter, the user is not limited to just one Phillips or two straight slots screwdrivers (typically standard in a multitool), they can use any size torx, Phillips, straight slot, square drive (Robertson drive), or can even put on any sized 1/4” sized socket. The 1/4” drive simply multiplies the capabilities of the tool on which it resides.

But, the SwitchPlier has has removed the 1/4” drive that came on some of the earlier versions and replaced it with a Phillips (and a spacer). We never considered the earlier SwitchPliers with the 1/4” drive to NOT have a Phillips (for the reasons above); but obviously, some did.

Thanks Ron,

I see where you're coming from with that - ordinarily I would be much more attracted to the versatility of the 1/4" drive, it's just that hands down the phillips head is my most often used bit in a multi-tool. I generally use mine 3 or 4 times a day - I've been carrying a Crunch for about a year because I can get to the phillips quicker than any other MT I've used, even though it takes longer to deploy the pliers than most others.

How does one go about ordering replacement tools? I'd certainly swap out one of the other blades for the 1/4" bit. I'm going to try and find one tomorrow and live with it for a while and see which of the other tools will get sent to the "bench".

And since it's bad luck to buy knives in singles, and the Flash isn't out yet, I'll just have to pick up a PEII to keep it company.

Thanks for the info!

Joe
