The main reason I chose the Military was because of the thicker (4mm) blade, the belly on the blade, and the comfortable handle.
I'm a medium sized guy with medium sized hands, but the 5.5" handle feels great-I tend to go in for comfort, and my fixed blade knife has a 5.5" handle that I find perfect-they may have measured the actual length of the handle, but it's more like 5" handle length on the Military as it's curved.
I like the choil & ramped thumbrest, and I chose the fully serrated blade due to it's (better ability) to slice through leather, clothes etc. I like the fact that it has a 1" straight edge up front for any micro surgery if neccessary.
It feels real good when trying it out for a pinch grip swing-like I hold the knife by thumb & forefinger, blade flat to the ground, and edge towards swing.Just before contact, I tighten up the loose grip to a good hold, and the butt of the handle smacks into my palm REAL well-that gives it that added wristy flick on a good, swinging slice. I tried it yesterday morning on a leg of lamb that my other half held up for me, and it went through 3-4" of meat like it wasn't there, and about 3mm into the bone. Nowhere near as deep/decisive as my 6" fixed blade, but very very nice considering this is a light, small bladed folder. I flicked my wrist to loosen it, and there was no visible damage to the edge. I guess the belly & the blade weight helped in blade recovery.
A couple minutes with my Gatco Tri-Seps triangle stick made the edge slightly more suitable for me. I also spent an hour smoothing out the thumb ramp grooves, and broke all the angles on the blade, handle etc. This knife is going to be a pleasure to use even with ECW gloves. I may still get an FRN Endura if I can figure out some way to reverse the barrel mounted clip for tip-down carry.
