I hope I am posting this thread in the right spot. I just wanted to give a big thanks to all BF members. I have been deployed to Iraq for over a year now and started using BF back in OCT. I have received great advice from many members and also received gifts from others. I have became addicted to BUSSE's and also bought many knives that await me in America. Once i ge moved and settled in, I will give a more proper thank you to several members. Just wanted to throw out a THANKS to all before i start my way out of theatre (IRAQ). I will propose one question to the masses (and mods if im doing this in the wrong spot I am sorry)

If you were going to buy yourself a knife as a gift, sort of a return home gift, which knife would you buy, and who cares about cost, your dream knife.

I have picked up several knives this year and have several waiting for me in the states. I personally am thinking a Randall 14.

Thanks again everyone!!!!

A Blackwood Henchman w/G10 or Carbon Fiber

A custom Mick Strider (have to be the righ one)

any Rinaldi

A Scott Cook Lochsa

Any Scott Cook knife

A Lg. Sebenza

...to name a few... but a "Henchman".... damn those were nice.

If money were no object (like it is now right?!), it would be a custom for me too, just look in the Makers forum and you'll see!
rock n roll bro and come back to us safe and grow old with us!

I have customs from Shinichi Watanabe, Gene Ingram, and Sean O'Hare. All of them are excellent choices.

I also have Joel Bolden and BurchTree on my radar.

Or you could get one of the finest knives made by anyone.
Something by Tony Bose.

I'd second the Randall, any model is pretty much a classic. But i'd probably go with a Dozier fixed blade. love his knives and his sheaths. keep you head down.

I would have to agree with Bastid.. They aren't cheap but after serving in Iraq you have more than earned it :D ... They are something you can carry everyday. And 20 years from now, It will still be a thing of beauty to look at..

My choice would be a knife that I would use. This said, I would not "use" a knife that cost over a grand. So ......I love Kirby Lambert's works.....and really love his Whar as a everyday carry.

My choice would be a Dress Whar......now finding one will be the problem, as I have been looking for a few months with no luck. I might just have to get on the waiting list.

Thanks for your service! My family also thanks you!

If I was in the army and being deployed, I would buy a Chris Reeve Mountaineer II. I have had one pass through my hands and it was a really nice largeish knife, very sturdy and a GREAT cutter. ...had a Green Beret and for me the grind was a little thick. Too obtuse a grind = harder to sharpen... remember, if you wanna pound nails, bring a hammer.

I'd look for something flashy, but deep-down a user. Maybe that carbon fiber, zdp spyderco stretch, or the S90V military. Won't break the bank. I hear they engrave...
