I'm new to this and have followed the forum(s) for a while and want to thank all of you. It was fun and informative - so much so that I decided to jump in - beginning with the thanks. I now trust you to let me join in the fun and not give me too much grief about my ignorance!!

By way of intro, this is what I have:
Spyderco: Delica LW; Micarta Calypso Jr S; Cricket (not SS); Salsa (Green)
Benchmade: Benchmite 310S; Osborne770S Carbon Fiber; Big Spender D2
Lone Wolf Loveless City Knife
Blackjack Grunt
RJ Martin Kozuka

Returned a few: Rodin (liked the Delica better for the purpose) and Benchmade 705SBT (preferred the Osborne 770S).

I've been experimenting and feeling my way until now, when I'm out of funds for the time being.
Hoping for a Benchmade 690 with the Carbon Fiber/Rose Wood while I wait for the money to build (slowly) again.

DC: City Knife, Cricket, Osborne 770 (not all at once). College prof, so the Grunt won't go over too well as a DC on campus!

Special thanks to Walter at Spoonriver for all the help and for the best prices on the knives he carries!

And thanks to all of you for the fun hours and all I've learned about knives thus far!

Lots of luck, professor! Now that you're posting -- you're hooked! You'll never have money for textbooks again! :p

That kozuka would make a nice carry knife. :D Seriously, you do have an interestingly varied collection. I'm out of NYC now (where I used to carry big knives) and now I carry a lot of smaller ones like the Big Spender, SS Cricket, Ka-Bar Thorn, Mnandi, small Sebenza, and Microtech Kestral.

Welcome, hope your stay here is an enjoyable and long one!
Gus

Oh hello Cricket, just in case you read this, I was wondering what you thought of your Blackjack Grunt. There's very little information about them and you are the only person I've ever seen who has one. There must be more, of course but they don't say much! The protusion at the back of the handle (I don't know what it's called) looks to me like it will get in the way when holding the knife blade up but I can always dremel it off, I guess. Thanks, Rod.

I'm new to the forums as well and after owning a Kershaw Chive for a while (my first 'real' knife), I recently ordered a WH Kestrel from Walter at SpoonRiver. He took lots of time on the phone and by email to answer all my newbie questions. Great and knowledgeable customer service and some of the best prices I've seen as well.

Welcome Cricket, from another new forum member.

Patrick
