My black/black canvas CG NMFBM has just landed! So I wanted to thank the Busse crew and Amy-0 in particular for bearing with me and all my stupid questions. :o You all rule.

Now, when I got this thing from the customs, the guys at the customs were having some pretty good laughs about the Swine Shaving Sharpness Sheet, and testing the NMFBM's sharpness on it. Fortunately for them, I was on one of my better moods....

First impressions on the NMFBM: Wow. This thing is big. It makes an FFBM look small. But it is much lighter than it looks, and in fact I would bet money that it weighs less, not more, than an FFBM. So, I guess the guys who didn't buy one because they thought it was too heavy aren't too happy now! It's about 0.23" thick with coating, although the NM treatment makes it a little tricky to measure. The handles are plain and simple the best big Busse handles I've ever seen. They fit my hands just right. But more importantly... this thing hits like a battle axe. I don't see how a chopper knife could get any better than this without getting too long - although it could be fatter and still be controllable in hand.

With all the recent hoopla at the forums over sharpness and fit and finish and what not... This CG NMFBM came sharp. Sharp enough to effortlessly slice paper, but not sharp enough to pop off hairs. Or in other words, it came with a good working edge for a chopper. Very satisfied. Rest of the blade is finished like Busses typically are in my experience, with no problems that affect performance. There are no hotspots on the handle or anything like that. The Busse logo for some reason looks 'stronger' than ever, in lack of a better word. It seems larger, clearer and brighter than on my other Busses. Nice touch. Only fit and finish issue that I can identify is that the right side handle scale is a little off horizontally, but that has no bearing on performance and it's going to be a user, so I don't care.

And Amy was cheating when she said it would take 8 - 12 weeks to get here. It took more like 5. :p

I'll say that these things are going to end up selling for a lot of money at the exchange. If there is an Ultimate Busse, I would think the NMFBM LE would be it.

Here are some photos - better than usual, because they're not taken by me...

congrats kid.

i got mine in right here next to my computer along with my FFFBM.i keep picking them up one at a time and trying to figure out which one weighs more.its to close to call without a digi scale.

the NMFBM feels better in the hands with the mags and especially because it is smoothed out instead of the grooves most of the handles have that i think cause blisters with the bigger choppers and are more of a pain that their worth even though they look super cool.

NMFBM FRICKEN RULES.

Thanks, man. I can't say enough good things about these handles - far better than the grooved FFBM and CGFBM handles I've used before. This knife is a monster, but it is very usable.

amen!

PReach on:D

Thanks, guys! I'm just not getting over how good these handles are. And I liked the mag linen scales on my other FFBM perfectly well, but the NMFBM scales are just a whole lot better still. And they offer good grip in chopping, and I didn't see any slipping and I certainly wasn't holding back on those swings!

So carry over the handles to another model, improving future lineups, or reserve the use of handles to improve the resale value of the NMFBM?

Elen,

I am so glad that you love it:thumbup::thumbup:

I told you that you would:thumbup:

Amy-0

Amy, you certainly did, and you were right! The NMFBM has just become my favourite big knife. Doesn't get much better than this.

Definitely carry the handles over to another model.

Elen, congrats bro, you are a lucky man. I can't wait to get my hands on mine, the hard part is resisting other purchase right now so I can afford it when I get my long awaited email from my silver bullets drinking gal named Amy :D

Thanks, bro! I know how it is with resisting - which is partly why I pulled a clever move and paid in advance, so I couldn't spend the money on anything else, because I didn't have it anymore. :D Did you get the LE or CG?

I only wish I could afford the LE, but doesn't matter, when the coating wears off I will either send it back to the shop for a new coating or off to Justin for a satin finish. I got the Sage/Black G10 combo, haven't seen one of those floating around the forums yet. Unfortunately I didn't pay upfront so I am scrambling right now trying to raise the money and withstand the temptation of buying a Bravo II right now :D

Good choice - the black G10 looks great, and I hear it isn't too slippery at all

I know, the black G10 does look sweet, I was originally gunning for the black/tan G10 to match my ASH1 but I can barely afford this as it is much less adding extra cost. I am more than happy with my choice, looking forward to playing with it.

Outstanding!

5 weeks to deliver to Europe? Really? I got something coming from Austria....wonder how long it'll take???

Congrats bro....she looks like she needs to be beat on! Be sure to take some user pictures.

I'm thinking the Busse crew shipped this NMFBM to me last week, or perhaps the week before that, so it took around 6 to 8 business days to get here. Quick. Order was 5 weeks or so back. I imagine shipping from Austria to the States shouldn't take much longer than 6 days, if those Austrians are as fast as the USPS seems to be on international shipments

I'm looking to cause some serious deforestation around the yard with this thing. :D
