The wood handles are to short, but other than that I'm extremely happy with how it turned out. It was made out of O1 stock and hormingo negro wood. Heat treated with a diy propane forge/burner. Everything was done with hand tools from the filing, cutting, sanding, to the polishing. It's been an awesome journey with a ton of knowledge gained. Would like to specifically thank Aaron Gough for sharing his knowledge on youtube.

Thanks for looking, and I wouldn't mind further critiques to help with the future journey.

Handle length looks good to me; what I would say is it is a terrific first knife! Good job. What is that in the picture that looks like a chess pawn sitting on the blade - that, I cannot figure out. Plunge line looks really good - was that done with a file, grinder or what?

Thanks @Col Defender! The "pawn" that you see is just the reflection of a handle on a cabinet.

The plunge lines along with the rest of the blade were done with files. I used Aaron Gough's design for a file jig and once I learned that files have cutting edges on the sides I was able to keep them nice and clean.

Good first!
A knife to be proud off

Great job on a first knife.

The only thing that jumps at me is the little thing sticking up on the spine. It has no function and is distracting from an otherwise smooth looking spine. I would suggest doing the next without one and seeing which looks/feels better.

Wow that knife looks way better than my first! I can tell you took your time making this blade and boy did it pay off. You are off to a great start.

Thanks, the praise really means a lot and helps with all the time and effort that was put into it!

@Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith= thanks for the feedback, wish I would've submitted the design earlier, because that little thing was a huge P. I. T. A.

Looks great and yeah the point on the spine is not flattering at all. Other than that great job. The only thing I would say is if you wanted to build the "same" knife again is take the point off the spine and instead of a flat spine from the butt to the tip is give it a slight curve. I think you'd be happy with the look. Time to go make another :thumbup:

Already started the next, all that filing/sanding is actually comforting in a weird way. After this next one I will try what you said @Fletch Helical I like the feel of that blade.
