I want to thank 2 guys who did outstanding work, and followup on the Ti 560, and Ti 186(Takedown)knives I sent in to the custom shop for BG42 blades. Thanks to Joe for doing all the paperwork, and legwork to handle the changes of the blades to the knives of which I had a plainedge BG42 put in the 560, and 1 each plainedge, and partial serrated blade for the 186 Takedown. Also want to thank Efrin Reyes who did the excellent rework on the knives, and getting them shipped back to me in little over a week even though the 4th of July holiday was in between.
The 560 belongs to my wife(Luana), and the 186 is mine. The 186 is the Titanium Takedown of which I bought in 1987 from a knife shop here in Reno, Nevada. I even have the original sales slips on the knife as well as the box, and all the instructions, etc. It is what I would consider as close to you can get a "Buckbenza" as you can get. It has the BG42 blades(partial serrated & plainedge), the "One Armed Bandit" thumbstud, and last but not least a pocket clip that was factory when this model was made. They are pretty scarce, and I don't believe many were made. Joe knows more about this than I about how many were made.
If anyone can post a pic of these for me(I don't have posting abilities being a basic member) I would greatly appreciate it as I can send them a scan of the 2 knives so those who are not familiar with the 186 Takedown with clip can see what they look like being identical to the 560 but having a clip, and being able to break down the knife completely with just a hex wrench.
Thanks Joe Houser, and Efrin Reyes for top notch service, and repair.
Just want everyone to know how much I appreciate everything they did to make this possible to have 2 "Buckbenza's".:D

i second the 3 cheers for joe and efrin, sent in a 880 buck/strider and got the blade polished, looks great, took about a wk or 10 days, and cost me $10 including shipping. customer service second to none bar none imho, and efrin does superb work, expected the stamped logos to lose some sharpness from the polish job, they look perfect, am 110% satisfied. now i gotta get the liners anodised, and i'll have one tricked out 880 imho. oh, they also sharpened the knife and polished the pocket clip too.

about a yr ago sent in an old buck squire i have had for, well, a long time, probably 20 yrs, all messed up, wouldnt lock/etc, joe sent me a new one for NOTHING, even paid the postage.

so thanks again joe and efrin, 2 great guys who go the extra mile when it comes to customer service. 2 more reasons why buck is after all these yrs still one of the best, and will be here long after a lot of other companies are only memories. i can think of a few companies who could sure learn a thing or 4 from buck.

thanks guys

Thanks for doing the pics!!
I greatly appreciate it, and I know they are not great but gives an idea of the 2 models, and the difference with the clip, and I feel really makes an excellent "Buckbenza" with the clip on it, and the "One Armed Bandit".

if joe pops up.... are there any clips, or any of the model with the clips available?

Aaron,

My understanding is that the Titanium, Model #186 (with clip and take apart construction) was only sold in 1987 and 1988. I seem to recall hearing or reading that it was available in 1986 but I can not find any reference to it in the 1986 catalog price listing. In 1989 Buck introduced the XLTi, Model #560, without the clip. The 560 was sold in various colors as recently as 2001. To the best of my knowledge the clips from the original 186 models will not fit on the 560's. I do know that 560's are still being sold on eBay, as well as other knife auction sites, and were recently still available through the Factory Store at a very reasonable price.

I remember when knife store here in Reno got the 186 in, and I fell in love with it, and had to have it. It was the only one he had, and I put $20 down on it so it would not get sold as the price for it was $89.95, and $20 was all I had on me at the time. I paid it off a week later. This was 7/30/87 according to my sales receipts anyway. I carried it for a brief time, and then put it away til a couple of weeks ago when I decided to get with Joe Houser, and have the BG42 blades put in it, and my wife's 560 which I bought from Cutlery Shoppe about 1990. I have only ran into one other 186, and that was at a gun, and knife show 3-4 years ago, and he wanted $300 for it, and did not have enough cash on me so had to pass it up. Matter of fact I talked to the guy, and he offered me $250 for mine but would not sell it.
Again thanks for the info, and making them into "Buckbenzas was my goal, and I still don't think I have the heart to carry them as it looks as they may become very collectable with the 560 now discontinued.
I have another 560 with a BG42 partially serrated blade coming that I bought off the forums here just a week ago to add to the collection which I have a "one Armed Bandit" saved for it.
These Ti Bucks are becoming addictive to me to add to my collection:), and plus they are just cool in looks, and being so much lighter than the standard Buck 110's.
Just my .02 cents rounded off to 2 Bucks(pun intended) :D
