I have been working with leather for many years making equipment in my falconry pursuits but never really got into making sheaths. Recenty I bought two of Pauls videos on sheath making and was very pleased with the information. Paul has a calm, rational, methodical way of presenting information that is very easy to understand and most importantly, easy to translate to what you are doing. From a practical point of view, what the video did for me was to help me understand the "process" and how to take any knife and make a pattern.
Here are a few pics of two recently completed sheaths. One for my Tracker knive and another of an all purpose belt knife called a Churi. Both knives are from my friend Arman of Khukuri Palace of Nepal.

Both sheaths can be carried on the belt or used as a dangler. You can see on the bigger Tracker knife, I used a piece of leather that had brand marks and some fence damage but I thought it had some character. And since it was for me I figured it was better than throwing the leather away. The back of the knife has a bigger brand mark that I wish I would have made on the front. The smaller sheath was for a customer buying that knife.
For anyone interested in making their own sheath for their special knife, I would highly recommend buying Pauls videos. I'm not sure about the rules for posting links to stuff but if you google "Paul Long sheath video" you will be able to find it.
I wish I could figure out how to add photos directly in the post! Arg!
