10/26 special Sher Jenge arrived. What a beauty! The "American Wood" handle is an absolute knockout. Conventional bolster. Good sharpening job as well. My thanks to Sher and HI.

For the record, in a year of outstanding specials, I thought that Jange was one of the best. It is long and wide and light for size and should strike hard. If it were mine, ( and I would have made a grab if I'd had money) it would be biting wood right now. And that large leaf shape aint nothing to sneer at, neither.

Good show.

Tom, I have the twin of yours, also by Sher with "USA wood", bought a couple of days earlier. I was bummed I didn't snag one earlier, but this wood has made the long wait all worth while. I think mine is probably black walnut. (?) In any case it is one of the prettiest handled khuks I have and the blade is a real chopper. Really exceptional work!

regards,

Norm

Seems to me that sending that special wood over was a big success.

Any guesses about the wood on my handle??

No, I used to think I was pretty good at identifying various woods, but really can only ID 5 or 6 on sight. Your's had a small chip missing in the handle correct? If that is the one then I remember it was a very dark wood; very striking. Just can't tell from the pic, sorry.

Regards,

Norm
