For keeping BFC as clean and ad-free as it is.

I ventured over to another forum to sell a multi-tool, and everytime I go on there now, I get a little dizzy from all the flashing ads/banners.

BFC is a spartan shrine compared to many other forums. Appreciate what we've got here, folks.

Now, I have to go lie down and make my head stop spinning.
 
My words exactly, those sites with all the adds make me dizzy, and leave only a tiny part of the screen 'usable'. All that clutter makes me want to put on welding goggles. Advertising is like biting bugs.
 
It's not just ad-free, it's "sponsor" free. I do some work for some open source groups (it just means that no-one gets paid!) and we list our sponsors / donators in a few conspicuous locations.

But Bladeforums.com doesn't even do that. I was looking to purchase a specific knife and wanted to price check with Spark's shop. Do you know how hard it is to get to Spark's knife shop via a bladeforums.com link??!?! I finally remembered that international customers have to use that shop and followed a link from the upgrade your membership page...

Spark, could you at least place a link to your shop in your sig? :thumbup:

Thanks guys, I try very hard to keep 1SKS separate from the forums. It's hard to resist the allure of ad revenue as well, but hey, someone has to do things the hardest way possible, right?

Let's take a poll, all paying members to petition Spark to at least put link in his signature line to Store, as you said, all the other dealers do it.

This is the only forum I hang out in. I also apppreciate what Spark has done here. I love that the rules are enforced and topics kept to the proper forums, etc. etc.

I must add the kudos as well. I only frequent 2 forums and the other (MMA related) only has one inconspicuous add on it. That way we can keep up with the topic- I hate the flashing and refuse to look at an article if I have to keep one hand in front of the flashing.

The incessant popups drive me away from many other forums. This one is clean and friendly. Heck, almost homey.

Just wanted to bring this back up!

Thanks Spark! I just bumped my membership up a notch. I love the ad free living around here. :D:thumbup:
