A few weeks ago I bought the new Spartan Blades Horkus made out of damascus. It's extremely nice. Since I live a few miles away from their shop my wife started asking questions about how they were set up, what other knives they made, etc. I called the shop yesterday and asked if my wife and I, and my two kids, could stop by and see their setup. We set it up for this afternoon and today we stopped by.
I expected maybe a quick 15 min tour. One of the owners took my family and I through their shop for an hour. Showed my kids how to grind a knife. How they were put together, etc. He answered about fifty questions from my 7 year old son with extreme patience and kindness.
Overall it was a great tour from some classy individuals, very much appreciated. Thank you very much from myself and my family, they had a great time.

I've been eyeing a couple of Spartan blades for a while and the Horkos is at the top of the list, I never knew that they made damascus blades; that's gonna hurt the budget.

I've heard nothing but good things about the guys running Spartan, enough that your experience doesn't surprise me. That said, how cool is that, what a sweet thing to do on an afternoon.
Only a couple of stand up guys would do something like that for a customer, kudos to the people at Spartan. I wish them a very busy new year !

Yeah, I had to sell a few so I could buy this one. They only made 12, and first time doing so, hopefully they'll make some more someday. It's very nice. :)
 
I have bought 2 knives from Spartan Blades, the Ares, and the Difensa, both beautiful and high quality blades. When I got my Difensa, one side of the blade grind was off, so I contacted Spartan Blades and talked to Mark on the phone, he said no problem and send it in. I got it back in a week with the issue solved. Both times when I have bought a blade from them and then sending it in, Mark and Curtis have hand written me a letter of thanks for my patronage, along with stickers, decals and catalogs. What a great company! Run by REAL SF Veterans. Thank you Mark and Curtis for putting out great tools and for your service.
 
That is one amazing knife. Congrats.
