hi str....i don't come around to your forum often....i just recently started reading alot of the posts and info and i have learned alot....i just ordered a kershaw blur sg2 after reading your review of it.....my birthday is coming up and needed some new steel...i am excited to compare it to other knives i have.....i use alot of japanese knives with super hard edges so it'll be interesting to compare to see how the sg2 stacks up......thanks for the review and all the good work here.....i'll be comin back on the regular.......ryan

Welcome and thanks Ryan.

Come on in anytime.

The Blur is a great knife and very comfortable to use extensively for me. The SG2 is one of the best I've ever tested also. I think you will be more than pleased with it.

I'm happy you read my book report length review. I wondered how many would actually get through all that.

str-it was alot to read but i....as well as alot fo other people appreciated it....that was alot of cuts you made before it started to dull.....this would be my first experience with a powdered steel.....from what i hear it loses the initial sharpness rather quickly but holds a reasonably sharp edge for a loooong time.....it'll have some tuff competiton...it's goin up against a 64 rockwell japanese neck knife that i use.....if it can keep up in edge durability i'll be set....it's also cool looking.....i'll give an update when it arrives and i'm able to use it......ryan

Being stainless it will have some advantages over that Japanese knife in certain mediums you use it on. Acidic fruits and veges for example will degrade some of the cutting ability of carbon steels quite quickly. Pineapple, oranges stuff like that can really patina a blade fast too. I think the SG2 is right around that same Rc hardness at the cutting edge as I recall. It will hold its own I'm sure.

i got my blur today!!!!!!!!!!....give it to the the kershawstore.com....no affiliation to kershaw inc......i ordered my blur on friday got it on monday....super fast shipping.....it is a nice color brown.....much nicer than the pics show on websites.....that's why it is so helpful to have people posts pics of their new knives.....it feels alot lighter than i thought it would be....locks up good and tight .....it is a little awkwars using the thumbstud to open it....i am used to the "needs work" folder....which has the tab on top of the spine....i got used to it after about a dozen openings though.....can' wait to see how the sg2 steel holds up.....ryan

I think you will be very happy with that one. Enjoy.
