Ya'll remember the Christmas gift swap right?
Well ya should,it was just a couple of months ago.
(and a lotta fun as usual!)
Anyhoo, brother Todd(TPVT)got my name in the draw & he sent me a knife that he had gotten as a blank from Chris & put a handle on.(Ol' Todd's like me & likes to dabble in knife tinkering,we can't make 'em,but we do like to make handles for 'em.)
Thank you Todd!
Now no offence to brother Todd ya under stand, but the handle wasn't quite to my liking.(He likes 'em a bit skinnier than I do.)
So I contacted Chris about putting some cocobolo on it & fatting it up a smidgen.
I had a block that Chris had given me (that matched my camp knife)with some nice contrasting
heartwood & sapwood & I thought this would make a great companion to the camp knife.(some day I'll get a nice piggyback rig made up for 'em)
Chris say's sure, send it on over & he'd hook me up.
Well, not long after getting the knife & cocob. from me,Chris posts that his knife making days might be over.(Ya'll remember that don'tcha? We were all like
oh no,say it ain't so!)
He didn't know what was causing his reaction
,but it sure didn't look good, the way his face was all swollen & scary lookin'.:barf:
Ol' Chris initially thought he was allergic to the cocobolo & I'm thinking damn..I killed him!
But not to worry...it was the epoxy & not the cocobolo that was killing him.
OK,it wasn't killing him,but it sure looked like he'd been hit by a truck!
And this is where the big thanks goes to Mrs.B.,because she helped Chris out in the shop glueing up the handles on mine & some others he was working on until he found a glue that didn't give him the hives.(at least I hope you found some so the Mrs. don't have to slave away in your sweat shop no more.)
Thank you Mrs.B.!
Sooooo..after all that,I got the knife back last week & wanted to share some pics.
As usual Chris did a fantastic job on this little beauty.
Thank you Chris!
Here's a teaser pic, then some nice mountain & river pics before the real knife porn starts.
Check out the frozen waterfall....Brrrrr.
This was monday, the last sunny day before the rain was due to set in again so I capitalized on the opportunity to get out & ease the cabin fever a little.(and bring ya'll the show)
Now for the knife porn......
Ain't she a beauty?(A little dirty,but I like 'em like that.)
Notice the satin blade, hopefully we'll see more now that Chris has his new grinder.
And with her big sis the camp knife.
WooHoo..check out them sexy curves & the fine figure in that wood!
Second gen. mark....
and third gen. mark.
I ran into the snow line up the road & I figured I better turn around, but not before getting one last pic of the beauties.
This last pic I took of the road on the way down.
No wonder I haven't been up there in over ten years, every damn pot hole was like a volcanic crater for miles up & back.
I hope ya'll enjoyed the show.
Thanks again to Todd,Chris & Mrs.B.
