Some of you around here know me; some of you know of me, and I'm sure some of you are wondering who the hell I am. Regardless of that, no one here had ever physically met or shaken hands with me...
Until Blade 2010.
I have been less active here for the past few months because of health reasons and other involvments. Despite that, when I first walked up to the Busse Bonanza (it was WAAAAY more than a booth) and shook Drew's hand, it was like reconnecting with family.
Five minutes later I was walking toward the other side of the center and I heard someone scream my name from across the wide open space. I turned around to see Amy-0 running toward with open arms, Drew behind her smiling.
That pretty much describes every interaction I had with any Hog or Hogette who knows me. Though I had other obligations at the show, I tried to trot by the bonanaza as often as I could, and was pleased to meet Stacey, Josh, Garth, Trevor, Alex, Chuck, Josh, Kim, Gary, Eric, Scott, Bubbles, Tim, Dave and Brigham Brown, Kenny, Jimmy, Bruce, Stricknine, and so many others. It truly made me feel warm and welcome.
Special thanks, though, MUST be given first to Amy-0 who loved on me all weekend, making sure that I felt both included, and appreciated.
Jerry Busse, who made an emergency induction of me at Jocks and Jills during the longest ash contest, and with whom I shared a private discussion that I found both informative and inspiring.
The lovely Lexi, whose charming personality and beautiful smile light up even the most open expanse, and who lovingly protected something very special to me while I was joining the B.A.D.T.!
And finally, to Jamie and his lovely daughter Bethany, who not only welcomed me with affection, but who later sought me out amidst the drunken knuckleheads in the pit on Saturday night to present me with a gift that I can't even begin to explain the value of to me.
Here it is in the bottom of this picture:
Talk about blown away! What made it even more special is that 15 minutes later Jerry used that very knife to induct me as a Hog because he knew I couldn't make it to the Induction dinner.
Many of you won't know who these people are by their screen names because I've chosen to adress most of them by their real names. Those are the names by which I will remember them, and hopefully you will someday have the opportunity to shake their hands and learn their real names as well.
Respect and regards,
Jason
