The blade is 10 1/2" long 440c heat treated by Rob Simonich. The guard is stacked brass with the center piece carved. It is pinned together and then soldered onto the knife. The handle is crown moose antler that came from Pennsylvania. It was a drop off, so nothing was killed to aquire it.
I want to thank Our Heavenly Father for giving me the means and ability to make knives. It has turned my life around completely!
I want to thank Barry Jones for his instruction and tips on flat grinding. I have hollow ground around 300 blades, but never really even considered flat grinding till I saw the beautiful grind Barry put on the pass around bowie.
I want to thank Kit Carson for his tips on silver soldering. I used them on this knife and I can honestly say I have never done a better smoother solder job before.
I want to thank Tim Herman for putting up with my relentless barage of questions in Blade Forums chat room. He is truely an artist and craftsmen and an outstanding individual who shares his knowledge with anyone that asks!
I want to thank Alan Folts for helping me with the finishing of this blade. I thought it was a wash till he gave me some help in satin finishing .
I want to thank Rob Simonich for answering my endless emails about his heat treating and doing a fantastic job on my blades!
I want to thank Mike Willoya for the encouragement he gives me, and the mammoth ivory I got from him. Not many folks are trusting enough to send a total stranger a $350 block of mammoth ivory so they can check it out before buying it.
Last but not least, I want to thank Mike Turber for having the insight and taking his time to start Blade Forums. It is a gold mine of ideas, helpful hints, material sources, and encouragement for both makers and buyers.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic new year Forumites!Take care and God Bless!! MIchael
