After much research on this site I finally pulled the trigger and built a PID controlled toaster/tempering oven. Came out great, holds within 3.5 degrees, and didn't cost me $2000.00. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an Even Heat, but my pockets are shallow. This guy rus like a champ, and couldn't have done it without all the experience on this site! Thanks again, Cid

My bad,
The "It didn't" is at the end of the line and my speed reading skipped it. I read it as "holds within 3.5 degrees and cost me $2000.000"

I really am surprised that more hobby level makers don't do this. Youb can buy the controller ready made on eBay or Amazon and plug the toaster in if you don't want to build the controller.
Plug and play BBQ smoker controllers are stupid cheap on Am@#*n :

Plug Play Outlet Temperature Controller Timer Stove Oven 15 Amp 572 degreeF/300 degreeC

For around $150-200, you can buy higher temperature units ready to go for controlling a pottery kiln or home-built HT oven.

No worries! Very happy with this set up for now, and surprised with its accuracy. Used the Amazon Inkbird kit with SSR and heat sink. Added a 5vdc fan, 8" type K t-couple, and amp/volt meter. I think with everything it was around $140.00. I rigged my forge up with a t-stat and 14" type K set up and can hold pretty steady temps for soaks. I never stop learning.
