And you are welcome.

Dave Stifle, U. S. Army, 1966-1972

And thank you to all the fine young men and women fighting in the middle east today. The Vietnam Vets never had to go back again and again. That, in my book, makes them some of the bravest young warriors America has ever fielded.

David, and other Vietnam era vets, I want to thank you for another thing.

I think the support from us "back home" is better for servicemen today.

For example, a friend of mine was recently flying across the country and ran into some folk on their way home from active duty. He asked the flight attendant if he could pay for their drinks. Her reply: "We're taking care of them."

I'm guessing many people in the general public recognize the treatment Vietnam Veterans got from the public was wrong.

The experience of Vietnam Vets illustrated the difference between supporting a war and supporting servicemen. That's important.

In my circle, even folk who disagree with the war itself are supportive of men in the service.

Thanks to all the vets.

Whenever I see someone in a veterans cap or hat, or some other piece of clothing or pin that clues me in to the fact that they are a vet, I have gotten in the habit of asking them about their service. I have talked to people waiting for a table at a restaurant, in line at stores, at knife tables, and they have the most interesting stories.
I teach in a middle school, and we discuss WWII and Vietnam and Korean wars, and it is easy to read about it, but it is humbling to talk to someone who lived it.
Thank you all

WA Martin put it best, some gave some, some gave all. I gave some. This, to me, is a pround, yet profoundly sad day.

Someone posted this in another thread... even though it is a US video, I see troops from all over the world in their eyes.... Thank-you.

Yes, thanks for serving, all veterans. While I remain proud of my service, including a year in Vietnam, I am in awe of the WWII and Iraq/Afganistan soldiers and Marines who have multiple tours. In WWII, you were in for the duration, period!

Thanks to all of you who have served. We had 6 from our family that went to Vietnam, all brothers. -Larry
