This is the holdout from the sales when Auntie was in Nepal.

The Pictures i took do not do this blade justice. It has a very nicely carved Hanuman handle in US walnut wood. The figuring on this handle is very very nice. Very well grained with a bit of flaminess to it.
Excellent fullering on the blade. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer specimen of this model.

Please send Payment to HIMIMP@aol.com and i will ship it out as soon as i get confirmation of payment from Auntie.

These seem to sell slower than any others I've noticed. I can't imagine why. Beautiful, and unique. Is this a khukuri that you can put to hard use, or would the handle make that tricky?

It is a general use khukri and not a field use khukuri. It isnt warranted for heavy chopping.
That being said there is a member here who carries his and says it is a beautiful chopper.
It is built with the usual H.I. toughness, that is for sure.
Aside from it's good looks, it feels absolutely wonderful in the hand.

Isn't this kukri listed under the Ang Khola family of kukris? Ang Kholas are listed as "field use" in the warranty section. A little clarification please. Thanks.

Those are true fullers. Similar to a chitlangi khukuri.
The Ang khola family has a "back hollow", which is what Ang khola means in nepali.
If it were listed in the warranty it would have to specifically say hanuman khukuri.

I was looking at the "shop" section and saw Hanuman listed under Ang Khola so I had assumed that they belong to that "family" of kukris. I'm a newbie, but have been intrigued and actually bought one of the Hanumans. It's too bad it isn't as stout as the others...

I just checked that and it appears you are correct.
I may be mistaken. Although i wouldnt, myself, have classified this as an ang khola except in silhouette.
I guess i'm going to have to clarify this with Auntie.

Edited to Add:

I've asked Auntie to provide clarification. If she doesnt post the answer herself i will let everyone know what she says.
I may have learned something new today....thats always a good thing.

You are all lucky i'm broke or id've already claimed this one. It's just that nice.

Thank you for looking into it. I have yet to use the Hanuman, but have been very impressed with the craftsmanship and how sharp it is. It's certainly the sharpest knife I own.

Thank you for bringing it up, fourgates!
I'm always up for correction if i'm wrong and only want things to be as they should be.
I've been over those pages in the store a hundred times at least....and never made that connection.
Then again....i've never bought from the store, only here or from auntie directly.

Oh, and it seems i may have forgotten to welcome you to our forum. So....Welcome fourgates!
I apologise to everyone for my slipping up and quietness as of late. Too much going on in my life lately.

Thats a lovely Khukri. Over all shape is like a Ang Khola but with Chitlangi fullers as you said. Bet it would be great user in areas with lots of soft woods. We have a mix of both soft (Aspen, some pines) and hard (scrub oak, juniper). If I wasn't broke, I'd probably snag it. :)

Auntie emailed me back......

She says the hanuman is not warranted for field usage, it is a general use khukuri.

That being said even general use HI kurkris are far more durable than almost anything else on the market and will hold up to most chores as long as used with common sence..I've used a 18in Kobra for chores that are on the heavy side with no ill effects..

Thanks Karda. Does this mean I need to buy another? These DOTDs are pure evil :).

That would be up to you, Fourgates!
And it is probably the best excuse (if you need one). :D

I wouldnt be afraid to use it, as Harpersgrace said.....
I just wouldnt expect it to be warranted.
