With my wife and son in the States visiting her folks over what she refers to as the "Practice Thanksgiving" long weekend, I decided to take a drive and visit the Zippo Case Visitor's Center". There was little traffic along the way allowing me to enjoy the fall colours as I drove through the Southern Tier of NY State and Northern PA.
Once at the Center, I spent about an hour lingering over the historical displays of knives and Zippos in the Museum. Prior to my visit I didn't really know that much about Zippos, and much to my surprise I found the lighter displays as interesting as the Case exhibits.
On my drive down, I spent some time thinking about what I would buy myself to remember the trip, and had settled on a Peanut. I am new to the world of traditional knives and the only traditional that I own (apart from a number of SAKs) is a Case Amber Bone Texas Jack in CV.
Browsing through the display cases was an overwhelming experience, too much choice! The knife that caught my eye was not a peanut, but the limited edition Swayback Jack with Marigold bone scales. The fit and finish on the knife is outstanding. Both blades are centred and razor sharp, there were no gaps between the back springs and scales, and the walk and talk are perfect. I also want to add that the staff were very friendly and helpful.
I know that "if there aren't any pictures it didn't happen" so here goes, sorry about the crappy cell phone picture.
