As I sit here in the office I have 8 knives left to grind today I am very thankful. I can't imagine this is what I do for a living. This comes up a lot in my head. This is when I thank God for y'all, our customers. Your enthusiasm for what we make is what makes this work, and I am thankful for it beyond my ability to express. I hope y'all know that I am very thankful for your support. Its amazing to me. I am also very thankful for the crew around me. I couldn't have done this without the crew, both past and present that have been critical for me to make this work. I want to thank them all for everything they have done for me at Fiddleback Forge. I am also very blessed and thankful to have such a wonderful family around me. I am very proud of both of my daughters and they're at very fun age. My wife has never put any brakes on my knifemaking. I can't imagine that, but I think its the case with every knifemaker. Personally, I think professional women, more suited to careers and more successful, who can provide insurance to a family are what has allowed the amazing new renaissance of handmade crafts in America. I couldn't have done any of this without Leah. I am very thankful for her.

I hope y'all are having a great week. I just wanted to take a minute to thank you this week.

You sappy bastard.

Just kidding... it's always nice to see someone who "gets it". Andy, you get it.
Seriously, the first day I met you, you got it and it's sincere. This sincerity comes through in your work. That's one reason I say your knives have soul.

Now I'm the sappy bastard.

Thank you Andy and the whole crew at FBF.

Preston

I am thankful for all you just mentioned and then some. I have enjoyed the knives, and getting to know you guys more than I have time to say.

I think renaissance is a good word there, and I agree with your reasoning. I have been in a lot of meetings with various artisans lately. I am seeing a growing renaissance in a return to hand crafted items of all sorts and I love it. The community I live in is very supportive of it. I am meeting craftsmen who work in clay, wood, leather, cloth, and steel. As well as a growing population of local organic farms and bakeries, and restaurants and grocery stores that support them. It's a really good feeling. I hope the movement continues to gain momentum and continues to grow. The world needs more people like you, who are very passionate about the work they do every day. That energy transfers into the wares being created, and creates a good feeling in handling and using them and a great sense of pride in owning them.

Brian nailed it. I'm also happy to have made new friends at Fiddleback Forge.

Happy Thanksgiving Andy and to all the crew at the Forge.

Aside from the many personal things I am thankful for such as family, friends, health, etc. I am also thankful for the community you have built here on the forums. Although having a heavy work load these days, I always seem to find a quick moment throughout the week to check in and see whats going on. Occasionally I find a knife or two as well :)

I also thank God! that there are still young (and maybe not so young), hard-working individuals in this country who are motivated by their craft.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Sergio

I know exactly what you mean there. I don't do carpentry work for hire these days, but it's still in my blood. I have been to a few meetings in homes in the 1/4 to 1/2 mil price range, and in the offices it was all I could do to not offer to re-run their crown mold if they would just buy the materials and allow me to tear that screwed up crap off their walls. In one, there was caulk filling about seven 3/8 to 1/2 inch gaps in the joints. outside corners, and the coping in the inside joints was appalling...

Not so young..... ouch.

Edited to add...... Nevermind. You meant Allen right. He has gray hair.

I have so many things to be Thankful for but to name a few - my loving wife and healthy 4 year old boy are at the top of the list, another year above ground when just 5 years ago it looked like it was game over for me, a solid job with great co-workers and 2016 is the year that I re-found Fiddleback and the great folks on this board, some of which are old friends from the Bark River forum days.

Andy - a BIG thank you for everything that you and your crew in the shop do. Fine American craftsmanship with outstanding attention to detail will win me over every single time.

Safe travels for everyone this Thanksgiving.

Having spent the last three days in a children's hospital, I am thankful to return home and also to be among friends and family this holiday in person and here in our Fiddleback community.

It's ok, you still look younger than you are ;)

Damn, sorry to hear that man. Been there, done that, and I hope all went well!

Yes, hoping all went well and wishing you the very best!

10 years ago today (meaning the Wednesday before Thanksgiving not the date, which was actually yesterday) my wife gave birth to my oldest daughter. That forever changed the meaning of Thanksgiving for me and what I am truly thankful for. Friends and loved ones; everything else pales in comparison.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jim

Thankful for my daughters, family, and having a good job. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving all! Not too much to say beyond what has already been said, but I am so grateful for the health of my family and extended family of friends. Life is tough as shit and I'm also so grateful to have a bedrock of a support group around me. As for this oasis, I feel blessed to have met some of you here on the forums and have had the opportunity to share in some adventures, with hopefully many more to come.

Happy thanksgiving to the crew at the Forge and everyone.

Thankful for my kids, family, good health, opportunities and Fiddleback Forge & this community.

Jarrett I hope all is well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I would just be repeating what so many have already said. I have been blessed in life in so many ways. I appreciate all of you here. This forum is a large part of me. (Just ask my wife! :D) Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Thank you to our servicemen and first responders. I and my family are so thankful for all you do. We lost my My father-in-law 2 years ago. He was a retired Detroit police officer. We will rejoice, be thankful and share a lot of wonderful stories as we sit at his table today.

Happy Thanksgiving!
